Awesome new amenity at one of the best American golf resorts

Destination Kohler has been a bucket-list option for traveling golfers for the last 30-plus years. With its four Pete Dye designs - two at Blackwolf Run and two more at Whistling Straits - it had always been a place for avid golfers to have a serious but enjoyable time - "serious" because all four courses are extremely demanding. What Kohler was missing was an all-out-fun golf course, and longtime Dye collaborator Chris Lutzke delivered, with help from resort owner Herb Kohler, at The Baths.

The Baths' confines are eminently friendlier than its big siblings'. Lost balls, though not impossible, are rare, since golfers are only playing up to about 150 yards and the green complexes are generous. Even if you find one of the "baths" - rock-lined ponds coming into play on three of the 10 holes - you can often fish your ball (plus several others) out of the clear water.

Standout holes include the fourth, with its massive Punchbowl green, and the fifth, a scaled-down homage to Royal Troon's "Postage Stamp" eighth. The Baths' final hole is also a stunner, playing to a rumpled wing of the enormous putting course.

Resort guests visiting on golf packages can play The Baths for free, while others must pay $75. A snack bar by the first tee slings everything from Gatorades to tacos and potent potables. It's a golf course, it's a putting competition, it's a great hangout and a welcome addition to Kohler's golf scene and any golf trip.

The Baths what a cool idea

The Baths were such a fun experience. Although we did not jump in, it is ok if you want to take a quick dip in the middle of the round.

The Par 3 course is anywhere from about 60 yards to 160. They have thought of it all. Drink and bag holders on the tee, change out bags, and one of the best 18 hole putting courses at the end of the round.

Course is fun love these little short shot courses. $75 bucks might be a bit steep but since your there you got to play it. I absolutely loved the 4th and 5 and 10th holes. The 4ths is a HUGE punch bowl where you can miss 30 yards left or right or deep and still end up the green somewhere. 5th is short like 60 yards but a big bunker in front and ton all around. 10th is a 110 yard shot with a crazy slopping green with the bath behind it.

Definitely a fun course to play as 2, 4, or 8 guys grab a couple clubs and some drinks and take a trip around the baths.
