Plum Creek Golf & Country Club
About
Legendary golf architects Pete Dye and Perry Dye designed the 18-hole, private course at Plum Creek Golf and Country Club, located in Castle Rock. Opened in 1984, the golf course features 7,044 yards of golf from its championship tees, playing to a par of 72. Dye included various different challenges in this golf course, causing some locals to say that it possesses some of the most difficult holes in the state. The hilly terrain of the well-bunkered course causes many uneven lies. Water hazards also come into play on some holes. Plum Creek Golf and Country Club boasts beautiful views of Castle Rock and the Rockies.

Another windy day
Range was closed for reconstruction. Lots of remodeling. All signs of a great place down the line. Was cart path only. Tough for a 66 year old disabled senior. And its one of the toughest walks on the front range. However, I desperately needed the workout. Im not sure cart path only was necessary and slows the pace significantly. But I will quit my crying .
One of the great layouts you will find on the front range. And when most of the sand traps have steps in them, you’ll realize that its going to be a tough day. Having the option of a blue/white tee really is a nice touch..
Practice your hillside shots. This is a true links course. And although the greens a large the undulation will challenge the best.
Great views and numerous hawk watching along with a great staff makes for a memorable day.
You must understand...
The course suffered mightily from the constant snow and ice this past winter. There is heavy winterkill in the fairways. The greens were recently aereated and look like they will take another month to heal. The course retains its great layout and shot values. Cart-path only seems logical given the condition of the course, but makes for a lot of walking back-and-forth to the golf cart which is far away from the fairway on most holes. When the course conditions improve, of course I'll be back. But it may be in 2024...
Pole Creek
The course is in rough shape compared to years past when it was in top condition. I understand it's spring in CO but on almost every fairway there is visible irrigation ditches that were just cut or still visible not having been grown over from last year. The greens are extremely challenging and not in good condition. Aerated fairways. Friendly staff but I think they need to focus on getting the course in better shape.
Plum... tuckered out! What a blast!
Reality check... it's VERY dry here in Colorado, especially in our mountains so, given that... EVERY golf course at this time of year is DRY... :)
Okay... as far as challenging golf courses go... WOW! What an absolute blast to play people! Each tee box offers great/scary visuals for placement of your first shot. Then, the real fun begins. If you've conquered the tee shot, hang on tight because this classic PETE DYE design has everything and much more waiting for you around every green! Almost every green features dramatic false fronts, sides and/or backs of the green so if you're not on with your approach shots, and especially when you have a wedge in your hand... well... good luck staying in the mix because if you're playing Skins, you've probably just lost :)!
Sneaky rolling hills everywhere... some water comes into play on some truly scenic holes and of course, Pete's railroad ties are found throughout this classic mountain/links style golf course.
When the season gets into gear and we can get some rain, this course is easily the best deal in town under $100! I'd pay $120 all day to play here!
WALK/RIDE ALERT: I would NOT recommend walking this golf course... the first hole is over 500 yards away just to begin your round and there are a handful of long walks from green to next tee throughout. Also, combined dependency = if "cart path only" is in effect and if you hit away from the cart path, a VERY long day ahead of you, walking across the width of many fairways, then back, then next shot... you get the idea...
Have fun and God Bless!
P.S. - I birdied #16 from the black tee box :)!
Couple getaway
My husband and I are so tired of the SNOW in Steamboat that we took the weekend to getaway around Denver and played Plum creek with two amazingly nice men from AZ and CO. Great round for me. Best in years and also one of our new friends had an eagle and we had a blast! Beautiful day and will go back when things are greener come summer.
Nice day and course
Had a nice time. The course is nice. Good greens and bunkers. Fairways are taking a beating due to cart path only policy since most people don't fill their divots. Seems a little counter productive. If you don't mind cart path only, I recommend.
Beautiful Course, Excellent Staff
The course is in great shape, and is very challenging. A lot of big, multi-tiered greens. The service was great, staff and amenities are top notch. The food was only OK at the turn, but the bar had a very modern vibe. Pace was slow, but it was a Saturday afternoon.
Not worth it currently
Way too much construction going on to pay $100. Holes cut down like a 50 yard par 3 and a 308 yard par 5. Bunkers being rebuilt on the front which will be great later on. Again, just too much money for playing a course with that much construction going on.
Overhyped
Advertised as one of the top courses in the area but at least right that is not the case. The course is currently under renovation. This should be presented to the customer before booking. Also, pace of play is horrific, worst I've experienced thus far this year.
Nice course!
Course is in pretty good shape for Colorado in April and everyone was super friendly. Will play again!
HORRIBLE
Decided to play this for the 1st time. As soon as you drive in you can tell how run down it is. They do not take care of anything. Everything is in poor condition, parking lot, driving range, golf carts, course.....everything. The staff was less than friendly. There's no club house, it's a temp trailer that has been there for many years. The course wasnt in good condition either. On one tee box, it was hard pan, you couldnt even stick a golf tee in the ground. We were laughing about that. Good thing i was with friends having fun, because everything else about that day was not. GO someplace else.
