The course’s first hole, set along the reservoir, typifies the subtlety and beauty of this layout. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/22/2020

Five exemplifies the quality of Tillinghast’s bunkering. And it’s a terrific short 3-par. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/22/2020

Green twelve has a mysterious look in the shadows. Then again, it mystifies golfers who land short and must pitch to the pin. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/22/2020

Eighteen: A minimalist hole, but a great one. It plays toughest when the pin is on the upper, back tier. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/22/2020

Good. Pricey, but good.
Course was in beautiful shape considering the lack of rain this summer. Some hardpan and dead grass spots here and there, but mostly a well-maintained course. Greens rolled true and the bunkers were in great shape. Carts ran well. The cost of $60 for an afternoon round is just a little higher than what you're getting, but didn't feel like robbery or anything. 9th hole stand only takes cash, wish they took cards somehow. Overall, a great day on a really nice course.
Pleasant Surprise
Thought it would be a quiet weekday afternoon of golf for my wife and I to try a new course and was surprised to find the course very busy. That said, the staff was very pleasant and efficient cleaning carts as the morning wave came in and we teed off pretty close to on time. Didn't pay attention to the fact that the course is very historic having been designed in 1917 by Bendelow and Emmet, and redone in '35 by Tillinghast. What a gem! The greens have a lot of shape and contour to them and the layout was very interesting. Despite being busy, pace of play was just fine and our foursome finished in right about four hours. I definitely will come back again.
Nice Course
This was the first time playing at Manchester Country Club. We liked the course. The 4 some in front of us were exceptionally slow and it backed up the play. They had no one in front of them. There were many players behind us all backed up because of it. That was the only down side.
Tyler Outing
This course is spectacular. I could not tell you one thing that was in disrepair. Greens, fairways and tees were fantastic. I would recommend thia course to anyone at any level.
Must play
Once again the course didn’t let us down. The conditions were super and pace of play was excellent. Did not get a chance to visit the pro shop because I forgot my mask. So make sure you stick a mask in your bag. We play at least once a year a it’s a must play!
Courae is in excellent shape
First time playing manchester, Course layout has sonething for everyone, some holes are tree lined, others open. 3 of 4 par 3s feature significant elevation change, the other plays at 185 from the whites with water left and long. Par 4s run from 295 to 410 yds, w straight away, dog leg left & right, back to back par 5s on both 9s. Conditions were excellent - fairways, rough, bunkers all in good shape. Greens are small & firm with good speed. Pace of play was good @ 3:40 for 18. Recommended.
Course is in Great Condition
First time playing Manchester, it's a track I will play again. Course conditions were very good, fairways in great shape, rough was consistent and in good shape, greens were firm & had good speed. Course layout is interesting, 3 of 4 par 3s are short but have significant elevation change, par 4s have good variety, par 5s are back to back in both front & back 9s. Course is relatively short at ~ 6100 yds from whites, ~ 6300 from the blues. Played in 3:40 with a cart.
Great course
I don't know what else to say all where 5 star rating from me.
Fun and fair
We selected this course because Tillinghast had a hand in the design and we were not let down. The layout was fun and fair with some tricky shots like the approach into 14 and the second shot on 4 make for a great test. The greens were firm and fast with some subtle breaks and some fairways were rather wide allowing for forgiveness whole others made you put it where Tillinghast tells you to. I would highly recommend this course for anyone interested in an enjoyable round of golf.
Playing Guidelines
First time playing the course in cooler weather conditions. We were not advised or aware of the course rules regarding jeans or levis and were not permitted to play without putting on rain pants which a couple of us did not have with us. For most public courses this is not an issue but apparently here it is. Very disappointing
Must play in the Hartford Area
For the time of year and the weather the course is in great shape. The greens are the fastest around. The course is a challenge from either the blue or the white tees (I have played both multiple times). Manchester CC will challenge your game on all levels, accuracy/length off the tee, irons and short game. It's a must play in the area.
Beware of the “members”
This is a public course that has memberships. Some of those members treat everyone like it’s their personal private course. We walked out last time out. We were paired w a 4th that was a little slower. We were followed by a group that was playing fast and our our behind. To be clear, we weren’t playing slow, we finished 18 in just over 4 hrs. Their pace didn’t affect us until they spoke up on the 10th, telling us we have to pick it up and we were holding up 4 groups. They also called the clubhouse to complain.
This behavior is not acceptable at a public course. I can’t imagine what they would do if you were a true beginner.
Besides that, I love the course. Greens are always nice.
