this is the condition of the 12th green. This is standard condition on all greens Photo submitted by hendu11 on 08/03/2023

while the greens and tee boxes continue to go downhill, the greenskeeper has the time and money to put these pointless bushes and rocks behind the 11th green. No priorities. Photo submitted by hendu11 on 08/03/2023

Too Far Gone
I’ve played here many times so I knew what I was getting myself into but it’s reached a point where I don’t think I’ll be back. There’s not a blade of real grass anywhere on the course. The bunkers might as well be concrete. Basically to the point where it’s unplayable. Would not recommend anyone wasting their time.
Get what you pay for...
This could be a decent course but the course conditions were the worst I think I've seen at any course I've played in CT. The fairways were mostly dirt, tee boxes were mostly dirt, bunkers had 1/2 of sand over what felt like concrete, and the greens were bumpy and dry.
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We see you rated the course 2-stars and are interested in learning what we can do to improve for your next visit.
We take customer feedback very seriously at our course. Please reach out to our team in the golf shop and tell us what's on your mind.
Good deal
$50 for 9 holes, 2 players, and a cart. Good pace of play. Conditions aren’t the best but improving. Good value for the price
Decent
Cheap but not worth it, bad lie every shot even in fairway and approach.

Got potential
Nice layout but fairways are a mix of different types of grass and the greens are pretty bumpy.
If you want to just get out and hit some golf balls for practice this is the place.
Finished 18 holes in 3hours and 30 minutes on a Saturday as the place wasn’t busy.
Staff in clubhouse were friendly

Poor conditions
Course needs a ton of work. Crabgrass, gopher holes and tunnels. Conditions weren’t nearly as bad two weeks ago
Strong Value, Friendly Management, Nice Venue
I played nine holes three times this week at Black Birch. Conditions have certainly improved here since the outset of the 2021 season; they’re now about average. The greens were better than they were in early August, especially because they’re rolling smoothly for the most part, but they’re still not nearly as blemish-free (resistant?) as they were in 2019. Overall, though, I can’t help but admire the persistence the grounds crew has had in the restoration of this scenic layout after last year’s literal outage.
I do like playing here for several reasons, not the least of which is its convenience. More importantly, the layout is strong. With four good par-5’s, a nice mix of three-pars, and some great par-fours--notably three, twelve and fourteen--you get a lot of bang for your buck here, even if all you intend is to work on your game.
I’ve always liked Black Birch GC. It was nice to see Keith here again at the clubhouse, as he’s always courteous, friendly, diplomatic (if there’s a problem), and an excellent golfer who hits it straight and long. In short, the perfect course manager.
