Good under the circumstances!
We had received a lot of rain. I chose this course because I thought it would be better than most. I wasn’t disappointed. It was as expected. Dry enough to play.
Customer outing
Hadn't played here in a while course has not changed much. Course was in good condition some of the fairways and greens were weathered but playable. Greens were not fast but tricky (please fix your ball marks people!). Weather was perfect overall a great day.
Worth playing
Big thumbs up to the entire staff.
A nice playable course with enough challenges on a nice layout with a variety of holes (i.e., uphill/down hill tee shots and approach shots; doglegs; ponds requiring a layup decision; etc., etc.).
After several weeks of rain, understandably there were a few spots on a couple of fairway that were totally washed out, but assume these was a temporary "G.U.R." condition (and should have been marked as such).
Need to upgrade cart paths on several holes, as well as totally bare spots that get all the cart traffic.
Need to put sand in some of the bunkers (#9 green side bunker appeared to be just dirt).
And shame on the golfers that day as there were countless number of unfixed ball marks on the greens.
Excellent Condition
Conditions were excellent, loved the layout. Challenging but fair, with smallish greens.
The owners and staff obviously care about what they do. Lots of really nice little touches, like flowers, attractive planting beds and neatly trimmed areas.
I'll return soon and will bring my friends.
Orange Hills in full
The course was in great condition, and pace of play was fine (just over 4 hours), a bonus on a Friday with good weather. Got paired with two GolfNow "singles" who were good golfers and fun to play with. The starter was unfriendly and argumentative; he seemed to have a problem with GolfNow users, and went out of his way to rankle. During an unnecessary testy exchange before tee-off, he volunteered that he had a lot of problems with the GolfNow people; showing up late, or wanting to play an hour before their tee time as if this was some sort of violation. He specifically noted that he would give preference non-GolfNow golfers when getting groups out on the course. The bad taste left by the starter was cured with a tap-in par on the first hole.
Gorgeous course!!
Haven’t played here for several years.
Course was in tip top shape!!
Really enjoyed talking with the starter as I was waiting for my tee off.
Great day on a great course!!
Fun Course if you like slow play
Orange Hills is usually in very good shape and it was yesterday. Fair price for area and friendly if clueless staff. Judy Smith, her brother and father run the place and they basically let anyone play, even people who should be on a Par 3 course. We had that yesterday with four women and the starter/ranger told us those behind them should have booked a faster time to play. So you're not dealing with people who have any golf etiquette. They "rushed" around in five hours and the rest of us either skipped a hole or waited. My wife was playing with me and her groups play in 4 or under hours. Tee times are easy to get as the course has this reputation for no pace of play policy.
Lovely setting for bar area but not welcoming atmosphere so little used.
Terrific Cours
I’ve plated this course numerous times and have enjoyed it. The staff are wonderful people and the course is challenging but fair. It was about 30 minutes slower than normal yesterday due to a couple of super slow groups. Need a ranger to keep pace of play up. Otherwise I highly recommend the course.
Still one of the best around
Orange Hills is always a nice day out. The course is challenging and in great shape right now. People are friendly and accommodating.
A Pleasure to visit
Always a fun day out. Course is in excellent condition and the staff make you feel welcome. Cart paths could use a bit of maintenance.
Enjoyable course
First time I played here, I look forward to playing future rounds here.
Staff was better than friendly including Pro Shop clerk, Starter and Course Maintenance. This gentleman working maintenance on the course had thanked me for playing his course. I felt he had a good sense of pride.
The course was in as good shape as any other public course.
Pace of play
The golf course was in very good condition even with all the rain we have had. My only issue was the pace of play, we had a three some and it took 5 hours to get through the round. The group in front of us was extremely slow with no ranger to push them along. They wouldn’t let us play through even though there was at least a hole and a half open in front of them. The course should have had a ranger moving things along
