Beautiful
Course has a great layout even with the aerated greens enjoyed it still
Scenic Resort Course
Very nice, well manicured course. Greens, fairways and tee boxes were all in good shape. Free range balls. The course had somewhat of a mountain course feel to it.
Played on an aerification alert, though greens were well sanded and played at a decent pace. They used a traditional hole punch aerification method (not the slits).
Only negatives - carts were restricted to cart paths due to recent heavy rainfall (even though course seemed pretty dry), no beverage service out on the course on a Monday, and strong odor from fertilizers used on the recently punched greens.
The Barnsley Gardens resort has several other amenities, including skeet shooting and quail hunts when in season.
Nice track worth the drive
Is a bit of a drive to get here, but think overall is worth it. On the day I played, pretty much had the course to myself. Only ran into a 2sum during my round. The course runs mainly through the woods and has some steep elevation changes along the way. Water comes into play on a few holes. Probably would have rated this a 5 had the course conditions been a little better. But think that was due more to the harsh winter they had and not course management. Also, got a discounted tee time which made it a really good value. Would play again if I could get a discounted tee time.
Not quite what I expected
This is a nice course in a secluded part of northwest Georgia the winds through the woods for the most part and has some elevation changes on a few holes as well as water that comes into play on a few. Because of the rough winter they had grass was still coming out of dormancy and course conditions were not quite what I would have expected. Also thought the course would be a little more refined given green fees. Fortunately only paid $65.on teeoff.com, which made it a good overall deal. If you can get a discounted green fee, is worth the drive to play.
Had a great time
This was our first time playing this course. Very nice and staff was great. We will definitely play here again.
Awesome Course in Fantastic Condition - Go Play
Barnsley Resort is a fantastic track that has some amazing views of the mountains. Most of the holes have some elevation change off of the tee but the fairways are wide enough that its fair for every level of golfer. Some of the BEST greens I have ever played!!! The greens were soft enough to hold approach shots and rolled really nice. The greens were extremely fast, smooth and challenging. The course has some of the prettiest par 3's that I've ever played.
I can't wait to play the course again. I will be back as often as I can, even though it is 1.5 hr. drive for me.
Lots of wildlife (deer, wild turkeys, birds, etc.)
The resort restaurant is great for a nice dinner and drinks after your round.
All in all, one of my favorites places to play golf.
Best around
This was the first time playing Barnsley and I wasn't disappointed! the course is really spectacular. the greens have to be some of the fastest in the state (and they are in perfect condition). It wouldn't surprise me if walking was NOT allowed due to distance between holes AND the elevation changes. Would definitely play here again
Great Course
The conditions were windy and the course was challenging. For the end of winter the course was in good shape. I would recommend this course to anyone.
Awesome course
Barnsley is a really fun track that has some amazing views of the mountains. Most of the holes have some elevation change off of the tee but the fairways are wide enough that its fair for every level of golfer. The bermuda greens were soft enough to hold approach shots and rolled really nice for it being winter. The course has some of the best par 3's that I've played in north Georgia. I can't wait to play the course again in the spring when the grass turns green.
Beautiful Challenge
This course is a real test of your skills. Barnsley Resort is challenging, but fair. Smart play is rewarded and aren't shots will cost you. Whether you play well or not, 2 thing Are guaranteed - you will receive top notch service and unbeatable scenery. I cannot wait to go back!
OMG - greens were incredible, ball rolled forever, truly made me focus on my putting. I have played this course multiple times, always find it well cared for and a good play. Definitely remains as one of my regular play courses.
Great Golf
Beautiful resort, excellent staff, very friendly and helpful. Greens are lighting fast, tuff pin placement.
Beautiful view and very fast greens. Good layout and can play long.
Golf course was in great shape. Fast greens but responsive. A few blind shots,a miss to the wrong side of fairway can be costly. Food is very over priced even for a golf course. Great track and very beautiful
First time at Barnesly
The nicest course I played this year in Georgia. Greens were true but fast. Looking forward to playing this course again. Great par 3's.
Beautiful Course!
Excellent round, very good condition. The greens were as smooth rolling as any I've played this year!
Beautiful course with awesome views and lightning fast greens
This was my first time playing the course. I loved it. The course has some beautiful views, especially the par 3s. Make sure to spend some time on the practice green prior to your round to get accustomed to the pace of the greens. The greens are lightning fast with lots subtle slopes and breaks.
Well worth the drive and the money.
One of NW Georgia's Gems
There aren't many courses I'd drive almost two hours to play. The price and distance from Atlanta make this a tough sell, but if you can get a good rate, it's well worth it.
The layout is beautiful, through winding woods in a very remote setting. I thought the GPS had steered me wrong the first time I went. It's truly a beautiful course in an isolated, pastoral setting.
This is a tough track. And when the greens are running 12-13 like this week it's even tougher. They are smooth as silk and putt true though. I never thought I'd say this as much as I like to shape the ball, but I could do with one or two less doglegs. It's like Bubba Watson's wheelhouse out there.
Being an actual resort, the amenities are very nice, but not cheap. It's weird having the pro shop across the street from the actual course, but there's a nice bar/grill at the turn. The staff is very accommodating and not snooty at all for such a nice place. They seem genuinely glad you are visiting.
I'll be back. Maybe I'll let someone else drive next time. But if you live on the I-75 corridor, and love golf, you simply HAVE to play this course at least once.
