PrairieView Golf Club
About
Owned and operated by the Byron Forest Preserve District, Prairieview Golf Course sits on a scenic stretch of land that overlooks the Rock River. The layout will test different skills with plenty of variety, offering both open, links-style holes and tight, tree-lined holes. The design takes advantage of the rolling terrain, incorporating the varying elevations into the large and undulating greens. The breaks can make the greens hard to read and they're made even more challenging by more than 60 bunkers strategically places along the borders. There are also water hazards in the form of ponds and a meandering stream that come into play on five holes. In addition to the course, there is also a 15-acre practice facility with a driving range, two putting greens, and chipping and pitching greens with two bunkers.

Great conditions and great layout
One of the best conditioned courses I played this year. I was not expecting as good of a layout with the big elevation changes on the property.
Price to play late in the season was great.
Great course
The Course and staff here are always top notch. Great conditions on a warm October day make for some fun golf
Very Good Track, well-maintained and Friendly Staff
This is a very good course with a somewhat challenging lay-out. The driving range is modern and the practice facility is good. For $36 (weekday) with an electric cart & GPS, it is a fabulous bargain. View of the prairie is fabulous. Will recommend this course to anyone. My hour and a quarter drive to this course was worth it.
Great day to play golf
We had a great round of golf playing Prairie View. The course was in great shape. Greens rolled true but were a little fast. We were a twosome and caught up to some foursomes so there was some waiting on the back nine. Course was busy but if we would have been a foursome I don’t think we would have waited. We will definitely play again. Even with an hour and a half drive it is well worth the trip.
Greens Under Repair
1/2 inch holes no topdressing, watering or rolling with lots of extra sand on massive greens?
Waste of time truly.
This course is awesome
Great people great layout great service great value. Highly recommend
Course is well maintained
Enjoyable experience for a great Golf Now price. (Half the normal)_ Course is in great shape and very friendly.
Not a bad Sunday
First time I had played here in years definitely lost a lot of trees but the layout still holds up you can now get away with some offline shots on the harder holes. greens were a bit shaggier than I remember but they rolled well just looked a bit starved in spots which may be why they were a bit longer. We played on a Sunday afternoon and with how busy it was found it weird there was no starter no big deal but also saw no ranger which on a weekend is a bold play by hole 3 we were right on the group ahead of us with a group right behind us and so on. I felt bad for the group in front of us a father and his two sons who kept up with the group ahead of them but we had one group that was a couple of groups ahead of us that had everything backed up. A starter could have helped space groups out and a ranger could have helped the pace especially on a hot weekend Beverage cart would have been good to have out for waters and gatorades and such but I understand with Covid they may not have hands free tech to do cards and what not but may be a good investment especially at the very least Friday-Sunday.
A treasure
Great looking course in great condition. I really like the well managed prairie grass in the no-mow areas. A challenging and classy course. The best electricity can buy.
Very well maintained
This course is in excellent condition, a great value for the money. Located about 40 minutes from my home, but well worth the drive. The whole experience was great, start to finish - I will definitely come back!
