Worth The Drive
Played Fields Ferry for many years. Always in good shape. Staff is always accommodating. It's about a 2 hour round trip so plan to go early and enjoy the day.
This course is a scenic beauty hidden away.
Everyone needs to play this course, has a great front 9 to warm you up for a tougher back nine, lots of everything on this course to keep you busy, dog leg lefts, rights, bunkers in great positions and yes some water also.
Bermuda greens fast but a bit bumpy
Course had a lot of rain on Wednesday and it being Thanksgiving week, bunkers were rough. But course was in good shape otherwise, bermuda greens fast but not smooth. Round got very slow on back nine. The shop said a group ahead of us took five hours to play. Hello ranger?! How does that happen?! Move them ahead a hole! We barely finished before dark.
Quiet, serene location very pleasant.
I will definitely come back to this course and play it in the prime golf season. Had some challenging holes but yet very fair.
Agree that this course is a great value
No frills facilities, but well maintained course and greens.
Small practice area/range/putting green.
Front Nine was pretty open, back nine was a bit tighter. Not a ton of need to bomb a driver. Greens are nice, pretty undulating actually, some more severe than others. Several greens with run offs and false fronts.
Pace of play was great. Course didn't have a ton of traffic on it, so it definitely helped with pace.
Again, this is a great value for the money. It's nothing fancy, but solid. Some of the guys in our group have played Fields several times, so it's worth a return trip/round.
Great corse to play.
Great course to play, moderate to challenging. When I arrived to play my round booked on golf now, the guy at the pro shop was a little upset that I could book a 12:08 tee time for one on a Sunday afternoon. But other than that had a great time.
Nice course
A very nice, well maintained course that was more challenging than I expected. Would definately reccomend and I would play there again.
Play this course.
Loved my golf experience at this course. Have played before and have always enjoyed this course.
Open front nine tight back nine..best place to play in Calhoun
I have always loved this place. It has fast greens compared to others in this area. Bunkers water are maintained. The rough is rough and the fairway is tight. Overall for the money great value if you find a 'hot deal'
Fairways great, greens topdressed
Course in great shape except greens were top dressed. They were still up to speed but it was difficult to gauge the breaks
good ole boys club -needs help with customer relations
Greens were just aerated and still had sand on them
GOAT TRACK
The real funny part about this course is that the scorecard says. "One of the top public courses in the southeast and US" WOW!! This course does possess one title having the worst champion Bermuda greens on the planet!!! The fairways look like the had to bush hog them to cut them low grass clippings everywhere. The greens were about 6 different colors of brown and bumpier than a 13 year olds face. The superintendent needs to go to pine tree country club and ask their superintendent why am I such an idiot I can't make these greens even playable. Save your money and just play in your back yard I bet its a lot nicer
Fairways are great. Greens are still sandy
Fields Ferry is my favorite course. It is pretty wide open and has a great variety of holes. The par 5s are reachable with two good shots. The par 3s have a good range in distances. I actually got my first hole in one on #12 today. That is the longest and toughest par 3 being 203 yards.
The fairways and tee boxes are in excellent condition. The rough will penalize you in some places if you are in it. My only issue with condition is the greens have been aerated and sanded and they are still a bit sandy. They roll pretty well, but sandy.
Great tee to green.
I have played this course before and I have seen it in much better shape. Tee to green was perfect! Greens were terrible, fast and very bumpy! I personally like fast greens, but when you combine fast with bumpy it's not a good combination. I had read a review from 3 weeks ago that said they had just punched the greens. Well, 3 weeks later they weren't any better. You would think with all the rain we have had they would have been prestin! Just wasn't the case. Oh, and they were very very firm also, I didn't repair a ball mark all day! Never made one!
Fairways to the greens great
Greens were quite bumpy rolling needed. Also speed of varies from hole to hole, like some were mowed and others weren't. otherwise everything else great shape. Will play again next year.
Hidden gem
This course was really a gem. They did change the grass on the greens and the weather has not cooperated for them to develop. This made them slow and bumpy from aeration weeks ago.p The fairways are the widest I have ever seen. Length is a challenge. The staff from the pro shop to the grill were the friendliest of any course I have played from Arizona to South Carolina. Will definitely visit again.
Wide open...
Great and wide open fairways, lots of hills for technical work and enough water to guarantee losing your favorite ball.
As an amateur (recently, but fatally, bitten by the golf bug) I found this course fantastic and would have played 36 holes if I had the time.
great views of moutains in the background. greens were in great shape
My wife and I enjoyed playing fields ferry on 7/24. I've never seen her put so well! she loved the greens. The hot dogs were great and the staff was super friendly. great drainage on the course. All traps were dry and raked and all the fairways were all playable. The fairways were recently plugged which added a little bit of a challenge: but I definitely would play it again
Course was in great shape, except for some very wet spots due to the recent rains.
Course was in great shape, except for some very wet spots due to the recent rains. Greens were good and true and well groomed. Fairways were really nice and the rough was thick in many places, but well maintained.
I would definitely recommend this course for a fun day of golf with challenges on several holes.
Beautiful Course
We played at noon on Saturday & the pace of play was excellent. Despite heavy rain the previous weeks, the course was well drained, the grass was cut & the course was in impeccable shape. The holes are challenging but fair. Ver enjoyable round,
