Sad story once beautiful layout
The course is falling apart. No clubhouse, none empties ut trash cans by teach hole, and no one maintains greens properly
There is no pro shop anymore, and attendant has to sit at a table outside.. Drinking water is available from him..
Should I say more?
No management presence leads to chaos
Played here at least 10 time. Yesterday was a disaster. No starter, no one present to regulate play. Played 2 hrs 30 minutes on the first 5 holes. There were 5 balls and 6 balls playing together, A few of the players ahead of us played 10 shots and not even on the green. On the first 14 holes at least 60% of the tees we were three different groups waiting to tee off. The last 4 holes we played in 32 minutes, when finally most of the players seems to have given up and the sun was already setting. .
Multiple large iron divots on each green.
The fact that it was $60 to play at this course is outrageous. No ball washers, no sand in the bunkers, no yardage markers, massive divots on each green, and a condemned clubhouse. That should summon it up.
An OK course, but cheap w/Hot Deal
Got a great Hot Deal for a end of season round. I played Fresh Meadows every Saturday about 30 years ago, and it hasn't changed much over the years. It's a par 70, so it plays much longer than the stated yardage with several 400+ par 4's. The clubhouse was closed, but there was a cart guy selling over-priced beers. They aerated the putting green, but the greens on the course were fine although very fast and hard. Most of the tee boxes were really beat up. It looks like they haven't moved them in days. Fairways and rough were in decent shape. We played as a twosome and finished in 3 1/2 hours even though we had to wait on a couple of tees.
Room for Improvement
Greens improved. Pace of play inexcusable. No starter. 752am tee time and already +10min behind schedule.
No clubhouse to unwind and provide more money to course. Carts need maintenance.
No divot mix provided to help keep course maintained. Lack of willingness to upkeep sand pits and divots.
Overall enjoyable course as far as playability concerns. Would like to see more staff.
Cost to High
For the amenities that are being offered the cost was extreme and the customer service has a lot to be desired.
Value is its name.
Fresh Meadows is a really good basic course. Greens were in good condition, bunkers always hard but the rough grass is short enough that you do not spend a lot of time looking for any balls that miss the fairway. Tee boxes in good shape. New club house being built and you can see some improvements on the course. Keep it up a great place to play for a fast 9 or 18.
PACE OF PLAY
Someone do something about the pace of play, for the Love of God. It really has some “okay layouts, but it took 3.5 hours to play 13 holes before we called it. Will never golf here again.
Great course, but not taken care of
If they actually put effort and took care of this course, it would be one of the best courses in Chicagoland. It has a really fun layout but the bunkers are like cement and the grass is not evenly cut. Overall had a good time
Work in progress
The course was in good condition but the club house was shut down and there were no refreshments to be purchased at the turn and the drinks cart did not come around until 2PM when we were on the 17th hole.
COW PASTURE WITH NO MARSHALLING
THEY DON'T CUT THE GRASS. THIS CAUSES SLOW PLAY BECAUSE GOLFERS ARE SEARCHING FOR GOLF BALLS. ONE GROUP OF 4 KIDS WAS BACKING UP THE FRONT NINE ON THE 3RD HOLE. THERE WAS NO MARSHALL. i HAD TO TERMINATE MY ROUND ON THE 4TH HOLE BECAUSE IT WAS SO PAINFULLY SLOW. THE CLUBHOUSE IS A TOOL SHED. THE TEE BOXES ARE BEYOND REPAIR.
Rough shape but quick round with good layout
My buddy and I were disappointed in the course conditions which are not good at all, don't hit out of the bunkers! But enjoyed the layout and the time to play 18 as we were able to really move around the golf course quickly.
Very Disappointing
Paid for a foursome at full price ($150.00) and arrived to find a dilapidated clubhouse that was closed for use. Checked in at a shed by the 10th hole.
The course was not great, not terrible, and the kid working at check in was nice enough.
The issue here is, if you’re going to lack the clubhouse amenities, if not discount the prices, at least advertise that the place is undergoing renovations.
As presently operated, the course isn’t worth being at the same price point as other courses offering a nice and clean full offering of amenities.
