Should have been Half the price!
The weather has been rainy the last week so we expected the course to be a little "shaggy"... But the condition of the entire course was horrible! The started warned us that the greens were just "weed patches"! And they were! Though the last few times we played here the greens were actually in the best shape I've seen then in all the years I've played this course. But yesterday they were so bad - the worst I've seen them! And there wasn't a fairway to be found! Everything was severely overgrown! We decided on the 1st green that it was pointless to try and keep score, so we just played with the attitude that it was like practicing on an extended practice range. But even the "Super Deal" price was way more than it was worth!
Worth No More Than $14
This course is worth no more than $14. The views are what I would pay the $14 for. The airways have not been cut in a month or more. The greens have not seen a greens keeper since they were installed. The only green worth putting on is number 17. Don't waste your time
Greens
Really like the course except for the bumpy, uneven greens. They need some attention.
Cart paths could also use repairs and maintenance.
Cheap but poor condition
Course and cart paths in very poor shape. Directions to next tee not posted on many holes. Can’t beat the price though
Need to maintain better
Some holes , the flag can not stand the wind and lay down on the green. More attention is needed to this kind of basic golf course management.
The cart has high knocking , so i asked to change to other one , but it wad refused.
Some greens are rediculous (deserving ridicule)
16th green is night unto impossible, steep a lack of grass, ball rolls off green on most putts. Ruined my day.
Course condition & Green fee
I have known that the field condition is not so good due to the cheap green fee and the GC is quite old. But i think if the course is some renovated i.e cart road , green etc. , it will be a challengible golf course.
First time in over a year. Seems like they’re improving the course a bit. Greens are an interesting blend of grass and weeds but are somehow true, albeit lightening fast. On 15, you cannot keep the ball on the putting surface. If you don’t sink it, it will roll back to you every time. Fun if you’re not keeping score. Lots of driveable par 4’s, two-shot par 5’s, and manageable par 3’s. $10 for 18 holes with a cart. If you keep your expectations low you will have some fun moments. If you keep score you will not.
This course is extremely run down, staff barely acknowledged us, pro shop carries a few balls and gloves only, carts are ancient and very dirty. We didn’t expect much for the price we paid but this course is basically farm land.
Thankgiving day golf.
Course not in greatest shape. Automatic two putt on green since was in real bad condition. BUT, can't beat the price. If paying regular green fee, not recommended to play.
Old faithful
Played course many times since I was a kid with my father who thought me the game of golf. Playing there just brings back great memories of my dad, So playing at Hawaii Country Club is not just a round of golf it’s remembering good times.
Don't Go
I've played 724 courses around the world - this one ranks last. Shouldn't be open in the condition it is in. $45 is way too much to pay for what is way below "goat track" standards, No real fairways, very little grass - I quit before playing 18
Affordable fun.
It's especially dry here this time of year, and this course gets little water beyond what nature provides. The grass is dormant, the ground hard. You get a lot of roll. It offers some in teresting holes and a quick round, usually singles and twosomes playing during the week.
Not a good course
The course is definitely not for an avid golfer! It's not what I expected in Hawaii. The course is in bad shape (greens/fairways) not ideal for 18 hole course!
Water your grass
I believe that if the superintendent would just work on reviving the grass on fairways, making the grass on putting greens actual putting green grass, changing the grass on tee box to real golf course grass and not crab grass or rough grass, the would course would look immaculate. The layout is great. However, when you hit of the tee box on the fairways, the second shot feels like you're hitting of concrete. It just gets disappointing.
