Blue algae
The greens were the worst in the valley. They looked like blue algae growing in mud. The cart paths are horrible, wear a back and neck brace. No senior discounts and the golf carts look and drive like something from the 1940’s. Not worth the price or time.
Unmaintained and rude staff
I would give this place a zero if I could. Staff is so RUDE! They are so overpriced. The golf course is run down and outdated. There was goose poop EVERYWHERE on the driving range. My shoes and clubs were covered in it. Disgusting. Worst course in Boise. Skip this course and go to Shadow Valley.
Great course in great shape
The course is in great shape and the greens are running true and smooth. I could see how if you like to hack and slice your Sunday golf rounds then the course may be a little challenging. The customer service at this course is unparalleled. Would definitely recommend for any skill level.
Great course to call "home"
Eagle hills is about 3 miles from my house, so I wind up playing there quite a bit. When I started prepping for my 50 rounds in 50 days in 50 states trip the first thing I did was set up a 14 day "dry run," just to make sure my body was up to the challenge of playing every day. The staff at Eagle Hills was far more than accommodating while I tried to fit in those rounds around my work schedule.
Overall the course has a nice layout, easily managed from the white tees, but with enough distance and variety to challenge from the blues or blacks. there are enough hazards to keep you honest, including several holes with water in play. However I wouldn't say anything is overly punitive. The greens have a little pitch to them, but none of them will leave you scratching your head. Pretty much any ball on the green has a chance of being put in the hole without trying to read an enormous break or change of pace in the putt.
There are a few holes that can really be taken advantage of to improve your score, and others like #17 that will do a good job of keeping you honest.
When I started play the course was in very good condition, sine it started snowing mid-way though my round, things got a little tougher later on.
Overall, I enjoy playing Eagle Hills, calling it my home course, and I go there regularly for more than the convenience of it's location.
