Missing groundskeeper.
I have played this course many times over the past few decades, and it is shocking how bad it has become this year. The tee boxes and greens are terrible and the whole course is infested with dandelions. All of this and they raised their prices. Definitely won’t be playing there again.
Good course with some elevation changes
This is an old course that has gone through a few management changes recently. Maintenance is just adequate, although holes 4 and 5 need major work. Cart paths are generally in really bad condition.
Great course
Beautiful course. A long time favorite of mine. Normally in excellent condition. Some nice elevation changes. Good mix of holes. No driving range. Definitely worth the trip to play it.
GolfGreg
The weather was perfect for this time of year. The course was in very good shape. Tree's had already lost most leafs, so wasn't a problem finding the ball. Had a real nice time on one of our last nice days of the year.
Not up to par
First time playing here since early spring and the course is in rough shape. Dead spots on greens, beat up tee boxes, and mud traps instead of sand. It seems like maintenance took the summer off, even though greens fees are higher than they have ever been at this course.
Greens are aerated
Green were rough and punched.....
Fairways are also patchy......course was better earlierin the year....
Course was in Rough Shape
It might be the recent lack of rain, but the course was not in the same condition I expected from previous rounds. Ground in tee boxes and greens was very hard, fairways had a lot of run due to dry conditions.
Rough conditions
Greens fairways and tee boxes all brutal. Needs a ton of love. Some bunkers lay play sand boxes some just rubble. Balls lands like hits hitting concrete. Got to play it 25 yards short. Fun holes but not worth more than 45 bucks
Poor Course Condition
1st time back at Hughes Creek in over a year. Always liked the course layout and courteous staff personnel, but this round the course condition was poor. Since the Kane County Forest Preserve took over course management, the sand bunkers, greens and some fairways are in awful shape. Dead patchy spots on greens, some quite large. Sand bunkers with weed growth and not maintained, some fairways with dead grass and abundance of weed growth.
I hope the County allocates more funding for course maintenance and returns this course to the shape it was 3 years ago,
Nice
Nice course, good conditions, excellent holes. Highly recommended. Note: No driving range.
Great course for the money
Course was very soggy after overnight storms when we played an early morning round however was draining well throughout the round so the back 9 was not as soggy as the front. We were following a bachelor party so it was a brutally slow pace of play that day. Good course with lots of elevation change. Pro shop is a little sparse and limited practice facilities. Restaurant is great for a post-round meal.
Kane county forest preserve does not take care of the course. It was turned over to a company called Golf Visions a few years ago who are the ones that trashed the course.
