Great day if golf. I want to try the electric cycles
Probably the best public course on the North Shore
Solid course
Solid course in great shape. Not that challenging but hard enough. We enjoyed it
Fast greens
Awesome course, narrow fairways, very well kept greens, staff is friendly, under $40 each for 2 golfers and cart. Will be playing again and recommend others. As long as you don’t get stuck behind elder folks who walk, your pace of play is solid.
Great Renovation
It has been a few years since playing here. The put a lot of money in renovating the course and they did one heck of a job. Very enjoyable and great conditions.
Sorry...spoiler alert.
Best post Covid round so far. Pastoral country club style expansive woods style course with each hole it’s own challenge, including a 500+ yd par 5 which I two putted for par! Course in mid summer 4+ condition with meticulously groomed fairways, mercifully cut rough and fast/true greens. I played 18 twilight holes in just under three hours for $30 with a cart. I hope I haven’t ruined it for the regulars but I will be be back. Well worth the drive!
Above average north suburb course
Things are opening up, so driving range and putting practice is open. The course is in good shape, rough can be think in places. Foursomes at 10 minutes apart, pace of play can sluggish especially par 3’s. Course is straight forward, tough in spots.
Overall value good for this season of elevated prices. I like the transparency of the cost presented on websites and Golfnow includes cart.
Ho Ho Ho
Playing golf in the Chicago area on the day after Christmas in 60 degree weather ... what could be so bad? Tee markers and hole number signs had been taken down for the winter, tho.
Amazing December Round!
Love this course and so thankful it was open on December 22nd for Christmas golf!
Tough holes 2 thru 5
While I've always liked this course, it's easy to ruin your chances to score with a few errant shots early in the round. You pay a heavy price for wayward shots especially early in the round. Then you start playing defensive. The day I played course played hard and fast and that made the course even tighter.
Policy issue
Rain all day but I had a hot deal so no refund? If I loose fee I understand but never going the hot deal route again
Deerpath - Improving Chicago North Shore Public Option
The Good: Traditional Chicago north shore municipal course, updated recently by Bob Lohmann, is a decent parkland track that is making improvements every year. Some good mixture of Par 4's and a couple very good Par 5's that wind through large trees & subtle sand hazards. The fairways were in above average shape considering the time of year, while the small-ish greens held pretty well but were shaggy as expected. Very nice staff and fair clubhouse and pro shop. Practice facilities now include more robust driving range, short game area and putting green. Twilight rates are fair.
The Bad: Nearly $75 price tag during peak season doesn't align with course design and conditions. On-course amenities are improving with updated cart paths but still lack restrooms areas. Not enough yardage markers. Lack of diversity in Par 3's as all are long-iron shots.
The Verdict: Deerpath is a $50 course in most places in the Midwest but is overvalued given its location near Lake Forest. A good weekend hacker course that is making strides since last time I played. Some of the friendliest staff of any public course on the north shore.
Best Hole: The closing hole is a longer Par 4 with an approach to a green with lake in front and large trees overhanging.
Challenging and fun course
Over all the Course is in Great Conditions, the greens in very good shape and well maintained, totally recommend this course!
