About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2022.
Gleneagles County Club is home to two 18-hole golf courses, the Red and White. Opened in 1924, both courses have traditional layouts that have withstood the test of time. The Red Course, also known as the Lakes, is the longer of the two. Water hazards come into play on several holes, including what is considered the club's best par 3. The Red's 16th is a 170-yard hole that plays directly into the wind to an elevated green that is protected in front by a pond. It's a tough green to hit but a relatively easy one to putt. Both Gleneagles golf courses appeal to a wide range of skill levels, which is one reason why the club is known as the "Home of the Shotgun Start," serving as host to hundreds of golf outings every year.

Play the White course instead
Not in anywhere near as good of shape as the White course. Bunkers (severely compacted) in terrible shape.
Show some effort
It's been 6years since i played here. It's not a difficult course and a decent layout. Played the front in 1:30, and zipped through 10 and 11. Then, ONE HOUR TO PLAY 12 and 13. All because of one group choking the course. Played the back in 2:45. No Marshall's around. While we waited on 12, the group behind went and replayed 10, and 11. We were still waiting on 12. Since the course management doesn't care, AVOID THIS COURSE. DO NOT PLAY HERE.
Watch the bunkers
Our foursome enjoys playing both courses especially the one with the devilish 17th hole. The bunkers were being worked on and they need it. Due to rain right before we played many were filled with water. Not a fault of the course but others needed new sand/raking.
Nice Course
Nice course in great shape for being late in the year. Would recommend playing there.
Bad Shape
The course was in miserable shape. The lack of rain in September showed that the course management is worried about their water bill. Three feet off the fairway on every hole was bone dry dirt and the ball bounced 8-10 feet in the air on approach shots with a gap wedge or pitching wedge. The greens were so scuffed and marked and it amazes me that the maintenance staff hasn't worked to correct these issues. I would have complained in the pro shop after my round if I would have paid anything more than my $10 hot deal. $50 on the weekend is absolutely not worth it.
Good condition despite all the rain
Many trees removed since played several years ago. Keith the superintendent does a great job keeping fairways and greens in nice shape.
It's great to hear that you enjoyed your round with us! Please come and play us again soon!
A good round of Golf
The course was well groomed. It was wide open, no one behind us or in front of us that delayed our round. Our party of 4 arrived 45 minutes early for a tee time of 12:22pm, checked in and was able to start early. It was a good day of golf.
We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your time with us, Chucky! We certainly hope to see you again soon!
Andrew
Course was average at best. The layout on some holes was pretty poor, especially the one with a tree in the dead center of the fairway. If you are going to play gleneagles, play the white course, not the red.
We're sorry to hear you weren't thrilled with our layout but we appreciate the review. Have a great day!
Sunday golf
Sections of the course were in rough shape due to the amount of rain recently. All sand traps were full and there were a lot of areas roped off due to excess water.
Would of been nice if the proshop informed us of condition before we teed off...
Greens were in good shape. Course just needs a couple of days to dry out.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review! We're sorry that you came upon us right after a big rain but we hope you'll make it back out in drier weather.
Gleneagles Red
Relatively basic track , wit great greens. Course is short , but fun to play. Awesome weather day , which made it even better.
Haven't been there in years but enjoyed
Thanks for the five star review! We are happy to hear that you enjoyed our course. We hope to see you back again soon.
Bad day
They have 2 courses White and Red
White is excellent Red is horrible short may be pace was slow because of outing but I don't want to play there again
We're sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your round at our Red course. We hope to see you back out on White again in the future.
Very Very slow
Played the course a couple of weeks ago and quit after 15 holes and 5 hours of the play. I thought I'd give it a second chance and play another round but the round took 5 hours. There are rangers but they did nothing to speed up the play time. I told a ranger that play was slow and he said they don't do anything about that at the course. I said there were three twosome in front of us and maybe he could have one of the groups join the other. Again he said they don't do that at the course. Just plan on a long day if you play either course.
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that pace of play was not up to par. We are always trying to improve in order to provide the best possible golfing experience.
Value and Fun
Fun course that doesn't tax you from tee to green but gets a little tricky around the well guarded and undulating greens. Superb value for the money. Pace of play was outstanding for a Friday before the holiday weekend. We played in 3:30 including a couple stops for raindrops. Win!
Thank you for your 5 star review! We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your experience. Come back again to play soon!
Watch out for the water !
Great pace. Great shape. Watch out for the water on the Red course . #9 and #17. Will play again. A fun challenge.
Thank you for your review! We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your round and got a little challenge out of it. We look forward to having you back on the course to play again!
JIm from Chicago
Solid course. Great value.
We're happy you liked our course! Thanks for the review!
Average
Course was very average.. I know it's early season yet, but the greens were a disaster. Very marked up, no one fixing their ball markings, and holes/rims were very beat up. Not to mention there was hundreds of geese all over the course, leaving their "waste" everywhere.
Thanks for you review and feedback about your time at the course! We are working on making improvements to the course as we head into season so we hope to see you again soon!
We're so sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your round with us. We are working very hard to improve our conditions after a long, hot summer. We appreciate your feedback and hope you will make it back out to see us again in the future.
