Pretty average
Haven’t played this course in twenty some yrs, not very challenging , needs a little maintainance, some short par fours to get birds or par, all in all would come back for the right price.
Nice course
Well taken care of course. Not to tight fairways, but entire course is compacted into small area. The rough is very dense grass that is hard to hit out of or find ball. Some greens are pretty tough and the par 5 #16 is hard hole. Fun course that doesn’t play to long.
Renwood CC
Nothing wrong with all fairways except for 2. But yet they had it set for golf carts on path only. Not senior friendly. Will have to call before getting tee time
Fun Play - Two Different Tight Nines
With the front nine 40 years older than the back I enjoyed my first round at Renwood. Folks in the clubhouse were nice and the course was in decent shape. A group golfer deal for $20 got us out there. The front nine is an old school short, tight (some of the fairways maybe 20 yards wide at best) and tree lined. The par 3 5th has what I'd term a postage stamp green. If you keep your ball fairly on the straight and narrow about the only hole on the front that provides significant challenge is the slightly under 400 yard ninth par 4.....so you should be able to get off to a good start/score. The back nine plays tight from the aspect that there's 6 holes with water in play and requires some well placed tee shots on the 10th, 12th, 14th and 16th holes to avoid plunking one. The 14th hole a par 4 dogleg left is especially challenging where you have to hit a good draw or take on a tree on the left side of the fairway. The par 5 double dogleg sixteenth is a hole you have to play a couple of times and suffers from what we call the "stupid hole" effect where you're basically forced to take an iron off the tee. A nice finisher over a pond....so the back nine was pretty interesting/enjoyable with some nice green sites with decent undulations. A some point we'll go back. 3.5 stars and call it old school/new school somewhat tee shot target golf....$25/$30 course.
Great Value
The course is in great shape. They keep making improvements and upgrades. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I can get out early and sneak in 9 before work.
Staff was very helpful
Staff called to change tee time to not wait for a large group scheduled in front of us.
Nice course for the price
Challenging course . Back nine narrower fairways Some parts of the course under repair but didn't interfere with play. No wait on tee boxes. Played 18 in 3 hours.
Old and new
Usually this course is in good condition. However they are doing some turf work which gets in the way of a round of golf. This course is a combination of a old classic tree lined 9 holes and a newer style front 9.
Morning After Heavy Rains
The day before our 7:30 am tee time dumped heavy rains in the area. So, the course was soggy and had standing water at low points, but was still playable. The course did call early that morning to alert us to the watery conditions and offered a discount upon arrival to the clubhouse.
The front 9 is more difficult than the back 9. The front 9 has water hazards on most holes. A number of the holes on the back 9 are tightly grouped, but are easier to navigate.
Shot makers golf course
Renwood is a park district golf course. With the monetary funds available, the course is a work in progress. Inconsistent sand traps remain and there is standing water after a good rainfall. However, when the course is in good condition, a chess game with the course will be enjoyed by most. It is a risk reward type of golf course. On weekends and at times on weekdays the lack of supervision on the golf course presents issues. However, I am proud to be a season holder/member of Renwood!
S.L.O.W.
I understand the course is easy and these type of courses tend to bring out novice golfers but the educate is not there. At many holes we were 2 groups deep at the tee box to watch a group ahead of us hit 12 shots to get to the green or out of driving distance. There was no ranger to be seen to tell this group to speed up and the group always sped off before we could even ask to play though.
I'm all for people getting into the game, but this course makes it frustrating for all skill levels to enjoy themselves when the pace of play is terrible.
This Course is A Great Value Course
Very friendly staff and golfers. Played on a Sunday morning, lots of walkers and lots of "regulars" who were welcoming to a newcomer. Course in average condition, greens slower than other courses in the area, lots of holes are "target golf" where you don't use driver. I very much enjoyed the course and will likely be back.
Nice Track
Haven't played in years. Don't know why. Plan to return.
Front is long/ wide with plenty of opportunities for penalty. Greens are undulating. Be aware of par 5 seventh.
Back is much shorter and tighter. Not tight. Just tighter. Course in very good shape. Greens are a bit slow, but run true.
Hot Deal was $19. Steal!
renwood
The coarse is a very good coarse only downfall is no beverage cart, or credit cards allowed on coarse. Credit cards only inside.
very nice course
Very nice course. First time to play there. Lost several balls at front night. Back night is easier. The weather was awesome, we had a great time.
