Crystal Woods Golf Club
About
Crystal Woods Golf Club dates back to the 1950s when it was opened as a nine-hole, par-37 course called Bit O’ Heather Golf Club, which it was known as until 1967 when the course was renamed and completely redesigned, which included the addition of another nine. The par-72 course that exists today tumbles across a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The golf course is mostly wide open, putting it at the mercy of the prevailing winds. On particularly blustery days, Crystal Woods Golf Club is quite demanding. The 12th is the course’s signature and it even has a reputation for being the most difficult hole in McHenry County. It’s tempting to be distracted by the beautiful view from the elevated tee but this tough hole requires your full attention. The double-tiered green rises dramatically from front to back, often demanding three or more putts.

Great Value
Respected COVID-19. No need to enter clubhouse. Pay online, confirm at walk up window with plastic partition to protect from respiratory transmission. Rest room had touch-less dispensers and toilet flushers.
Great course to walk. Not to hilly not to flat, cart paths helped pushing.
Greens and fairways were in great condition.
Friendly staff, friendly golfers.
Great all around
The staff here is great. I took a beginner with me and instead of being rude or trying to push the pace of play, they were very nice and ensured that all was well and to continue to have fun.
The course itself was in great condition. Not the most challenging course but still enough to need to make shots to score. I highly recommend.
This course surprised me, in a good way. The fairways are very skinny, but first cut is wide and doesn't punish at all. Beautiful course, especially for the money
Golf in July
I was there to work on my short game and I spent time at the range working on the wedges and short irons. I did enjoy playing with another couple and the course was in good shape the greens were very good and not too fast. I shot a very good back nine which help the experience.
Crystal woods golf club
I have always liked to play crystal woods club for at least couple dozen years now.
Layout is always changing relative to weather.conditions and time of year. Very well maintained by professional staff .

McHenry county.

Good course and good pace
Had a 9:00am tee time and got out on time and had no issues at all throughout the round with pace. Course was in good shape and the greens were pretty quick. Overall good course and good pace!
run of the mill
get what u pay for ... nothing bad to say greens r fine just dont expect pebble beach
Bad day
Fairways like cement, lack of rain or watering. Very slow that day, very slow play. Slow players did not let us through. Of all the years I played this course, this is the first time I had this problem. Usually this place is in great shape
