Staff was rude
Had a friend there that was his first time golfing. Im also not very good. One of the staff members came up to us before we could even finish the first hole and said maybe you guys belong on the range and not out here. Demanding to see our receipt and keeps talking down to us trying to get us to stop golfing
WORST TREATMENT received in 25+ yrs
Booked my tee time at LUNCHTIME for a 5:08 start arrived early & was CONTINUESLY told they're ONLINE service shouldn't of BOOKED me.... Called the other guy (MGR i suppose) over & he ONLY stated how he has to TALK to there online people to STOP booking after 5.... Drove 20 miles just to play & they NEVER even let me play ANY holes!!!!! ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!!!!!
Good course, lame policies
I liked the course, it's fun, a bit quirky, and was in mostly good shape. Will not go back.
When reserving, I went for 18 Walking. As I go to check in, the pro shop guy says I can't walk (but I prefer to walk) and that the cart rate is cheaper (don't care about cost). I ask him if I can pay whatever and still walk, and he tells me weekend carts "is how we've always done it" and "the course is packed." I told him a walking single would be the least of his pace of play worries, but the kept to his Indiana boomer course rule and I went out anyway. To zero shock, I spent the entire day sitting on my butt in their stupid golf cart when I could have had a nice walking day. Not a single group within 4 holes behind me. Give credit to the guys ahead - they got around in a very reasonable time, but what a boring day wasting golf cart gas when I could have happily walked this place.
No carts in the parking lot
Having to carry your clubs, cooler, and anything else to the club house and back is a major inconvenience. I understand the carts are brand new (very nice with the usb ports and coolers built in) but not allowing them in the parking lot is a bit extreme. I hope they change this policy in the near future.
Wicker
I played Wicker on Saturday the 8th. It's been years since I last played here. The course was in decent shape, but wet, given the recent rains we had in the area. The bunkers could use a little attention, but it is still early in the year. Overall, I would play it again once it dries out.
Pasture
We lost a total of 8 balls in the "fairway" cause it hadn't been cut in what seemed like weeks. When we got there we couldn't hit balls cause they were cutting the range, but every "fairway" was average rough length. Probably would have been better use of resources to actual cut the course. Around every green was standing water cause they punched the greens and were obviously watering them to try and get everything to grow. Then after playing 9, we had 2 new 3somes in front of us cause they sent people out on the back.
You are not a country club
Tee time at 7am on a Saturday was approached on 4th hole about pace of play because of the men’s club (not professional golfers!!!!!) were complaining probably because I had my daughter in the foursome which by the way is better than 90% of the MEN who think they are professional golfers out there who was also told last time sweetie you should probably move up to red tees when she drives the ball 200 or more yards said they might have to tell the group in front of us they might have to skip some holes if they don’t pick up the pace haha maybe tell men’s club to be first tee time out on weekend if they don’t want to be held up and make tee time intervals more than 7 minutes apart this place is supposed to cater to veterans which me and my buddy are only to be treated poorly twice you are a public park course there are no professionals out there sorry to break it to you played the round in under 4 hours on a packed Saturday NOT SLOW if any of the professional golfers out there would like to play me and my daughter she could show you a thing or twenty
Great Layout but Too Many Leaves
The course has a wonderful layout. The holes are spaced out so that you are rarely in another group's way so the golfers move along. The only problem we had was finding our ball when you did not hit the fairway. Maybe help was the issue but the leaves on the ground could have been pushed farther away from play. And on one particular hole (#5 or #6), the entire par 4 was covered with leaves. We lost a ball in the fairway! Only a Fall season issue.
Great golf
Course was very well maintained,, that helps you play better. Greens were a little fast but overall beautiful. We like that this is one of the only places that has a beer cart.
Great golf
Great pace of play, course was well maintained overall. When course is good you play better. Best of all they have a beer cart circling the grounds!
I really njoyed Wicker Park golf course except that I lost my wireless speaker and it wasn't turned in, other than that it was a good experience.
Too many sprinklers on
Good course to play, but 1st 5 or 6 holes had to dodge water sprinklers. Not sure if they were on timers, but we had to rush around them in order to not get soaked.
