Just plain fun
If you're looking for a playable course with some interest, variation and value, look no further than River Valley.
I've played this course 5-6 times in my life -- it's a bit of a drive for me, but always worth it. Today I was the first person off the tee at 7 a.m. The young man in the clubhouse was extremely friendly and helpful. Had my cart ready, wiped down, ready to go. From the first tee -- a beautiful elevated shot to a straightaway fairway below -- to the last approach, which requires a high wedge to an extraordinarily elevated green, the course is just fun. It's well maintained for a public course, and the greens rolled 3-4 feet faster than I thought they would just by walking on them. They were also quite smooth and rolled true. There are a few challenging holes here, but nothing too punitive. A skilled player will find the course moderately easy, while high handicappers will find it playable. Again, it's just fun golf.
If you're looking for a relaxing round in a laid-back country setting, River Valley is a great choice!

Got to say 3 holes in i realized what a great design the course was. Really brilliant. Fun design. Better Design than Lake panorama.
Greens are in great shape. Could use a little help with weed control. However, I am there to play golf not Horticulture. Bunkers are typical rough sand
Decent course with potential.
Course was in good condition but we have had a lot of rain this year. Course is overpriced compared to the other courses in the area. I don't like the 18th green or the reeds that block your view of the green on 12. Course had very few players for a Saturday afternoon but that is the norm for this course because of the price and poor condition (reputation) in past years. Course is fair and there are places to miss on most holes. Good course to grab a few drinks and enjoy a round with friends.
Great course in small town Iowa
Played here several times this year and it's not been very busy, course conditions are great, pretty open design, just a really nice golf course in small town Adel Iowa. I will play again.
