My home course

I have played cardinal hills hundreds of times and I used to work at the pro shop. I am going to write a in depth review to give you guys all of the insight I have obtained from experience to help you optimize your chances to shoot well on this course.

The course is a 1950's country style course with lots of down and back holes with little magical nuggets thrown in to make this course a thrilling experience. Cardinal hills isn't overlong and the rough and the fairway are essentially the same cut, so hitting it long is optimal here without being overly punishing on the front. The back is much tighter which requires much more precision off the tee. The greens are very small, so do not expect to hit lots of GIR. The course has a multitude of elevated greens that moderate undulation that will put your short game up to a hefty challenge. The greens are not overly quick but roll true. They have subtle break, so keep the ball below the hole. The course has hardpan on lots of holes so a low bounce wedge is optimal.
The staff is awesome here too!

Great experience at local golf course

My husband and I played on Sunday afternoon. Overall the course was fun and in good shape.
Greens are in great condition. New carts. The staff was very friendly. Clean pro shop with variety of golf equipment, clothing, shoes and hats. Great atmosphere several golfers enjoyed lunch and adult beverages on the porch. Will be back!

Waste of Money

I know there has been a lot of rain to be fair. a lot of dirt looked like where water had been standing. Cart path's were rock washed out with holes. coundn't drive on them. reminded you of a farm turned in to agolf coarse. Greens were small for the most part. 3 of the nine Greens were more sand then Greens. Wife said restroom was dirty. Staff was to busy talking to friend except one. Water holes smelled so bad you couldn't hardly stand to hit your ball next to them. Bad experance and waste of money. Never will go back.

Tiny Tiny Greens

I'm not sure if this course has the smallest greens I've ever played, or if that honor goes to Fall Creek in Pendleton. But either way they are really, really, really, small. When I played they were pretty shaggy and slow too but were in good shape overall.

The rest of the course is your standard old school country course. The fairway is barely discernible from the rough - both look like your backyard grass. The tees were also like your backyard too. This isn't a course you'd want to "play it down" as there are a lot of small ruts and patches throughout the course. I also usually never ever say this - but some trees on the back need cut back a little, especially on 12 and 16. Otherwise it's a traditional layout with gentle doglegs. Most holes from the blues (tips) are still somewhat short, but there are a couple long holes for their pars (4, 12, 17). If you spray off the tee you will find trouble, especially on the back, which makes your approaches to the small greens difficult.

There are worse in the area but there's better too. But the course knows its price point, and if you're around it's worth a go.
