Rough Friday!!! Photo submitted by BC21 on 10/05/2012
The hills are insane!
Expect to lose a lot of balls to the slope. Fairway shots can roll out of bounds
Wouldn't play it in the winter
Check the weather before playing here. It was a bit muddy with some wet spots on the fairways, and a few areas needed mowing. Had to stick to the cart path. Better to play when it's dry for a good round.
In my experience this course is not enjoyable in the winter.
Great course
Great course very challenging, also a very pretty round of golf, recommend if your friends want a relaxing and challenging game to come here
Not for the faint of heart
A well kept, challenging short course. The sheer design of this course adds to the challenge for the average golfer…you better be able to keep it in the fairway! I was constrained by time or I would’ve played 36 holes on this beautiful day.
Dry, rough fairways, so-so tee boxes
Firstly, the course is beautiful with the scenery.
However, the course was very dry, including the tee boxes which were hard and had lots of sand on them.
Fairways were cut terribly with the mower lines dug-in the ground in a lot of places on a handful of holes. Fairways were decent size but again, dirt showing in a lot of places.
Greens were browning in spots and were slow. Maybe they didn’t cut them low/normal due to the lack of rain recently so they wouldn’t burn them up?
The staff was extremely nice however during check in and during the turn when we grabbed a burger. Golf-carts are electric to that’s an added bonus for my liking.
I’d be curious to see what the course was like with some more water on it however in the future. I’ll be back at some point I’m sure but will ask a few friends who play here regularly first about the conditions prior to booking.
First time
Great time for our foursome, awesome elevation changes, tight fairways, soft greens, nice clubhouse, friendly staff and atmosphere.
Some close tee boxes to fairways and greens, had two close calls with rouge tee shots almost hitting us.
Well worth the drive from Columbus to enjoy a challenging round of golf with spectacular views of the city
tees and many fairways in bad shape
The tee boxes were awful (like, chopped up, mud/dirt and uneven stances...they clearly haven't changed the tee area's in weeks). Several fairways were basically mud/dirt in a lot of places. Greens were fairway length. It's taken a dive since the prior pro left for Kenton County. It's a hackers paradise. anyone good won't play here, but I live close and my sister was in town and wanted to play.
Average
The views on some of the holes are the best part of this course. Otherwise it's like they just wedged in a course on a plot of land. Very hilly & tight. Not exactly hard but if you don't hit it straight, you'll lose your ball. Greens were in good shape. Fairways were ok. Not worth $50.
Visiting Cincinnati
So I did my research and read all the reviews of the 10 best golf courses in Cincinnati. This course came up and the reviews were decent and the price I thought at the time was right. I’ve been playing golf regularly for over 15 years now and am an average player. I’m sorry to say but I have never been so disappointed and dissatisfied with a golf course in my entire golf playing experience. The course was not at all what the reviews had said it was. I’m ok with a narrow challenging course and was expecting that but the course was in terrible condition. Instead of grass and green fairways it was mud and brown fairways. The grass around the fairways was extremely high making it nearly impossible to find any ball not hit on the marshy fairways. The greens were so dry and slow that i needed a mallet to putt. It was like playing polo. The pace of play was so slow that we left after 14 holes and 4 frustrating hours. There were twosomes and foursomes all over the place as if no one was counting golfers and putting groups together to speed up the course. The so called concession stand or clubhouse had one person working and no food that I was aware of. I would never play here again and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Even an expert golfer would struggle on this course.
