Staff great but some golfers....?
Played the back nine 1st and everything was great until I reached the #1 hole and found that I had left my pitching wedge fromt my new set back at a previous green.
Stopped in to ask the staff and they were very helpful but no one had turned in the club.
So I back tracked to try and find it and some guys said they saw a guy that said he found a club but when a found him and asked he denied it. So, someone lifted it! Man! What happened to ethics on the golf course!! I nor any of the gentlemen I play with would ever do that!
After that I became discoraged and didn't even finish the game!
Maintenance needed!!!
This course could be a very nice track... a lot of imaginative and creative holes with many doglegs and a island green next to a silo!! But the course looks as though it has not seen any care. Fairways and greens, believe it or not, are hard-packed mud with patchy areas of grass. Greens need to be re-done and fairways need to be re-sodded!!! There is a reason this course is only costing $10 for 18 holes, including cart!!!
Great value!
This course is not Pebble Beach, but it does have a great personality. For the price you can't beat it. Challenging and fun in a quirky kind of way.
Short course
If you're looking for a short course to play this is the one. I only used my driver twice dut to the shortness of the course. The front nine is fairly open, but the back nine gets pretty tight. Fun 18th hole which is a par 3 with the green on an island.
Mediocre course for a cheaper price.
This course looks and feels like it was carved out of a nature trail and not in a good way. The fairways were not well maintained. Most greens had heavy wear. There are a few open fairways but most have tree over hangs in front of the tee box preventing you from a decent tee shot. I ended up not using my driver at all and my 3 hybrid only twice due to the fact you can afford to get any loft under the ball off the tee.
It's fun to play but a little brother to a regular course.
I thought the course was fun to play. It's a short course. There are several holes that are withing range of your clubs but your not getting to the green unless you can shape a shot like a video game. There are some trees that block shots completely and make getting on the green about luck not skill.
The grass needs some TLC in all areas. The greens are ok for the most part, the tee boxes are being worked on and the fairways have some rough patches.
The island green was the reason we went and it was fun. It's not the famous PGA layout but it's still fun to try to hit it. Take an old ball and bet your buddies on making one in the silo on 18.
I would recommend this course to go have fun playing golf. If you try to take things too seriously your going to be disappointed. However, if you can just have fun playing the course and trying fun shots you'll have a good time.
Good Course
Me and my friends are very beginner golfers, so we lost lots of balls and very challenging for us.
Good course for beginners at a good price.
I took my wife golfing at the Oaks in Desoto since she just took up golf. The course yardage is suitable for ladies, kids and beginning golfers. The tee boxes were not in very good shape, but the greens were fine, other than being a bit slow. Can't beat the price for 2 people to play - golf cart included.
Great course to work on ones iron play
I have only been playing golf for 10 months so most courses are a little challenging to me. With that being said, this course is a good course for beginners. It offers a few chances to bring out the driver but most shots are going to be mid to short irons. The fairways need some work as do the tee boxes, but the greens were in better shape than a year ago. All in all we played quickly and had fun and the price was pretty good as well.
Fun course
This is a really fun course to play with elevated tee boxes and a good mix of long and short holes. There is a lot of water and heavily tree lined areas throughout the course that make this a really fun course to play. I've played it four times in the last two weeks and have done better each time. The course is really well maintained and the staff is super friendly. Go play here and see for yourself. It's a really 'fun' course.
great value and challenging
PCourseHere For A While Now Great ValurAnd A Bit Of A Shorter Course But Still Quite A Challenge For The Distance. Every Hole Holds A Different Feature That Makes For A Fun Experience And The Staff Is Super Friendly. I Would Definitely Recommend This Course To Anyone Looking For A Quick Round Or Just A Relaxing Stress Free day
Short But Challenging
This is a short course with small, challenging greens. It had many unique holes and it is a fun course for average weekend courses. Par for the course is just 66 because there are 8 par threes, but each are very different.
This course has some great features on 2 and 16,18
Nice friendly staff was able to play right away ,the course is nice for the price you pay the greens were fast and nice you can tell they are getting ready for spring, the course itself its long with some short par 3 and a few water hazards as well, but overall I would play again their. Except I didn't finish the 9 hole because a foursome was taking all day looking for balls they would not let anyone play through
the course is fun with a great layout
Oak country is a fun and exciting course. It has alot of unique holes that you dont see anywhere else. It is a great deal for the money!!!!
Oak Country - Desoto, Ks
This course is in terrible shape. They have lost parts of the greens on the majority of the holes. And where they have lost the greens they have put down a lot of sand. If you are looking for a quick round of golf for cheap. You might like it. It just isn't maintained the way that it should be. I know that they probably don't have a huge budget to spend on the course. So I can't blame them. Just is not a real good golf course. I think that I only hit my driver twice. If the greens were in better shape it might be more fun.
Only on sale.
With a bargain-basement price of $10 on-line, my buddy and I headed out. We got what we paid for. This par 66 course is truly "pasture pool" the fairways look like a field that has been mowed closely. Some of the greens are in good conditions but with others it was hard to tell where the fairway ended and the green began. Most of the standing water was scum covered, a little attention to the course would have gone a long way. With many of the par 3's being around 100 yards they can be played with a pitching wedge. I just had my irons re-shafted so I was able to give them a good workout. There are two par 5's. One is a dogleg left 490, the other is only 386 yards and is easy to birdie. Bottom line - If you want somewhere to practice with new clubs and you can catch a discount give it a try. If you want to play a real golf course, this isn't it.
worst course I've ever played
The only reason is somewhat challenging is because the course is poorly designed and you're playing your lies off of weeds in the fairway. Fine for those just beginning but awful if you've ever played more than five rounds in your life.
Short and Cheap
This is a nice easy course that is very cheap to play. It has some interesting and challenging holes, but be prepared for the back nine to be mostly very short par 3's. Some greens and fairways could be improved, but overall it is a nice place to go practice some shots you wouldn't see on a full length course.
You get what you pay for here.
I played this course with my best friend on a fairly warm day. The drought this year has really affected the golf courses around KC, and Oak Country was no exception. The drive into the parking lot is deceiving, making you think the course is going to be cramped and short. Not the case, fortunately. The front 9 has several longer holes, although none carry much elevation. One on the front and maybe two on the back have elevated or depressed greens. The rough was in fairly poor shape in most places, and the fairways were merely average. The greens were bare in places, but again, the drought was really difficult. I am a new golfer and enjoyed playing here, especially considering the prices, the lax nature of the course and the very friendly staff. I will definitely go back.
First time to play here and real challenge on about 50% of the holes.
First time to play here and was impress by the way the course was laid out---a real challenge on about 50% of the holes.
