Pretty Nice City Course
Stay in the middle and you won't get into much trouble. There are a few holes where the trees will snatch up your ball on errant drives. Turtle shell greens.
Had a lot of fun!
The course was in the best shape I've ever seen. The greens have been really firmed up. They are cut closer than before. As always, the views are great with everything so green,
Little Things
First of all the inside staff was great. There were marshals everywhere. One followed us for three holes. Way overboard. Greens were in very poor condition, weeds along the cart paths. Just a few little things and this course would pretty nice. Not worth the 30 minute drive just to save a few bucks.
Beautiful, tough course
I'm not sure about some of the negative reviews out there about this course. I played it 5/1/15 and the course was in great shape. Maybe they counfuse the toughness of the course with it having poor quality.
It was a challenge, multiple blind tee or approach shots add in to the fun. You may look at the overall length and think "what a short course" but the setup hides the length. I'm usually a longer hitter, and I can hit most par 5's in 2. I don't think I hit one par 5 in two on this course. The greens are very well protected, mostly by turtle back greens.
Let me get to the greens in more detail. They are tough! They are very fast and firm, and most courses around here have pretty flat greens, not at tomahawk hills. The greens are very contoured, so be careful about those false fronts.
Finally, it really gets lives up to the hills part of its name. The elevation changes at this course are numerous.
All in all, a very nice course, but one I'll save for special occasions.
Good to play for a change of pace
For the price a great course to play. At full price I'd walk but gets pricey for 18 for what it is.
Tough
You lose your ball in the rough even though you know right where it is. Greens were very fast. Lots of leaves on the course.
Long day
Very slow conditions ... too many small groups teeing off separately. Saw many marshalls but none seemed to be helping move things along. Most of the course was fine, but the greens were very thin and worn.
best I'VE SEEN THIS COURSE IN A WHILE
COURSE WAS IN GOOD SHAPE, HAD A GOOD ROUND OF GOLF
Women's tees
I played with my parent in there late 60s, women's tees play to long. Should be a senior tee option as well.
Not for High Handicappers
This is a very challenging course with several blind holes. One very long par 5 out of the range of most high handicappers even from white tees. Greens are 'crowned' in places making putting very difficult. Several holes with drives to very steep angled fairways. Snack bar has only bottled beverages nothing over ice or fountain service.
Lots of fun
One of the guys that played in our group qualified for the Golf Channel open later this year. We all thought this course was challenging. Great value for the money.
Spring play
Played this course for the first time.
Greens were in need of work, lot of dead spots around the edges.
Rough was perfect, thick and green.
Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Golfnow provided a nice discount.
Tomahawuk Hills
I know it was early spring, but this course is not in very good shape. Greens were really beat up.
Enjoyable course.
First time to play course in three years. Nice new clubhouse. Staff very friendly upon arrival. Recently aerated so putting was interesting at times. #2 green under repair. Fairways in good shape. Fun course to play.
challenging course
A challenging course that requires straight drives. The greens need attention and should have been in better shape
Unique "specialty" holes!
Interesting and challenging holes scattered throughout. Both #9 and #18 are par 3s with the tee boxes high on a cliff...hitting down to the green. Makes for a fun round of golf. Although some of the greens need some TLC.
Nice Fairways, rough greens
Played in a threesome around 2pm during the week at the end of the summer. Only a few people on the course. We were never rushed. We let two people, each a single, play through and never saw anyone else the entire day. The club house is pristine and the carts were excellent. The greens were aerated and not rolled flat, so they were not in great shape. The rest of the course looked great and was fun to play. Most holes are straight. I think hole 16 or 17 has a huge dogleg right that is a blind shot over the trees from a raised tee box. There are 2 major elevated tee boxes on 9 and 18, both par 3's. The were 200 yards, but played like 150 due to the large elevation. I love those holes. Bring your ball mark repair tool for those holes. Other than the greens being serviced the day we went, it was a good experience for a municipal course and an older course (small, domes greens). Saw some wild turkeys near the club house.
