Small town course
Very surprised with this course. Well kept, open play area with not too many hazards. The course is packed into a small area, so it’s easy to find yourself on a different fairway but it leaves for good approach views from many different angles.
Wellington
It’s a great 18 hole course for a small town. It’s fairly short. One par 5. Expect wedges into greens after tee shot. But the pop up greens will challenge you if you miss the green.
Great Golfing Experience!
Wellington Golf Club is a great getaway from the busy, crowded courses in and around Wichita. The course layout was intriguing and challenging in ways that only an old course can bring to the table. The raised greens changed the way each hole was played compared to normal courses. I loved the experience and will play this course again soon.
This course was in great condition.
Considering it was March 1st the course in great condition. The greens were true and quick. Enjoyed playing here.
Fair
They have a new clubhouse that is very nice. They have good personnel. The greens are okay. Out side of the greens have many different types of grass. It is very easy to not find your ball ever if you are only a few feet off the fairways.
Golf now deal
First off it was crappy weather cold and windy so i was the only person playing, that said, it was a deal for 13.00 but the fairways were still dormant so it was like hitting off dirt in a lot of spots. Had to move to the rough a lot just to get a decent shot surface .Greens were in good shape, played this course when the fairways were correct so it was just the time of year
A surprising challenge
This old school course has hidden features that will make you think your next shot. Not long in yardage however it doesn"t have to be. One will enjoy their round indeed.
Great experience
Fantastic greens and loved the layout. Well maintained and plenty of cool tee shots and approach shots with a variety of features and strategies. Great find! And the carts were really good too. Complementary book detailed distances off the tee to hit to and numbers to the hazards- loved it!
Course in great condition
Wellington's course is in great condition considering the normal late summer wear and tear. Fun track - not too long but with some challenges. Highly recommended.
Ok course a bit out of the way
Decent shorter course with some driveable par 4's. Good deal when playing the hot tee times otherwise I would not pay full price.
Some of the local old golfers were very rude and felt the owned the course. Other than that the experience was decent.
bang for your buck
Wellington Golf Club is a great course for the money. Green fees are cheaper than most and memberships are the lowest in the area. It's a shirt course with elevated greens. They have been this way since the course was an original sand green course back in the 60's. You have to have a short game to score but a flop shot is not a must. The staff at WGC are some of the nicest and most professional in the area. The course host many events and is a way to attract out of town guests to the small community. I would invite anyone to come and play a round. Yes we have a pool that plays some music in the summer but it's only a few holes. I personally enjoy it. There is a big game on weekend and holidays for the player who loved to compete. If you want to play a well maintained public golf course that is short and challenging Wellington Golf Club is your place.
Extremely Poor Green Design/Maintenance
Aside from not being told we would be following a drunken group of 54 hackers in a tournament which created very slow play with rowdiness, boom boxes on all their carts, and no consideration for public golfers at all, we found the greens in terrible condition and design. Every green is elevated up like an upside down dinner plate with steep banks all around, not allowing any run ups or chip ups. The worst green design EVER. The final 3 holes are up against a water park with blasting music and kids everywhere, which was a major distraction. It is an OLD course built on black clay, so don't expect to see any sand under the turf at the tees, fairways or greens. I will not return!!!
