REAL GEM!!!
The Lindsey Golf Course on the Fort Knox compound is a WONDERFUL opportunity. The layout has enough sand to make you nervous, enough water to make you concentrate, and enough trees to make your group pay attention. What it does NOT have is a lot of underbrush in the tree lines, weeds on the challenging greens, and an over abundance of rolling hills. Staff is friendly and carts are clean and in good shape. Well worth the 40 minute drive from Louisville.
Hidden Gem...Not Just for Military
Traveling to Louisville I was set to play a couple of top-rated courses in the area. Fortunately, I was turned on to Fort Knox's golf course. Lindsey Golf Course is open to all. It only takes a visitor's pass at the front gate, and it's worth the investment in time. The course is extremely well-maintained, has a number of challenging holes, and the staff is extraordinarily friendly. Conditions are ideal from tees through fairways to the greens, and the course is very walkable. I played another very highly rated course the day prior to this one and paid three times what I paid at Lindsey. If I'd known what I know now, I'd have skipped the other course and headed to Fort Knox. I thought the gold was stored in the depository at Knox. Turns out it's on the golf course. I'll be back!!!
