Excellent value
I can't give 5 stars in every category, but this was easily a 5* experience overall. We drove down from Stevenson and it was well worth it. It was a stark contrast with Elk Ridge, which we play a little too often, in terms of atmosphere and attitude...mainly the demeanor of the other golfers as Elk Ridge seems to bring out the worst in people somehow.
It was fun playing on some steep terrain for a change. I love all the elevated tee shots in the par 3s. The sharp doglegs and steep approaches make for some short but cool par 4s that will have you questioning club decisions and aiming points. If you've never been there a gps app is very helpful.
This isn't a complaint but the only downside in terms of conditions was that there were quite a few mushy areas. Just a fact if life if you want to properly water a course in a narrow, steep walled gorge like this one. The course amenities are fine...there is a simple menu, spacious, inviting clubhouse and patio (that is awesome and is a great place to take in the view and see some golf while you relax), and tiny but functional range. It's not 5* but it's all more than adequate and aspects, like the patio, are definitely 5* worthy.
Finally the price...$55 plus cart fee on a busy Saturday, on a cool, well cared for course, is a bargain. Holes are really tightly packed in some areas but people were friendly and courteous and it was rarely an issue. We never waited in the group in front and never had anyone within site behind us.
It all made for a great day. My group will be back at least once more this summer.
Great Setting, Nice Layout
This is one of my favorite courses in the Portland area. The only downside is the side by side fairways, because you are often seeing other tee boxes drives end up in your fairway. Otherwise it’s an amazing course. Layout is interesting with 5 par 5s and 5 par 3s but only 5500 at the white tees. Really like this course because while many of the fours and fives are short they require good course management to get on in reg. Highly recommend to all golfers.
My Favorite Course in Oregon
This is one of the most serene and fun courses in the entire state. It's definitely my favorite due to the creative layout and amazing grounds crew. You're constantly tempted with risk/reward shots, and challenged with elevation changes. It's not too long of a drive from Portland, but it gives you a good amount of time to enjoy a peaceful drive and clear your head.
Staff is a delight to interact with and they always have it together.
Looking forward to getting back in the summer and having a drink on their patio atop the hill overlooking the course.
Perfect day
Was so happy to play a course that had nice smooth greens and for the first time this year had a three hour round.
Bad buisness
I booked a tee time on Tee off and they tried to charge me full price because I didnt know how to confirm my tee time in the app. I even called while I was on the app to clarify to the pro shop the problem. I drove an hour to play golf with a friend and ended up not playing and left my friend to play alone. I will never golf at Wildwood again and I spend a LOT of money for golf each year. I also will not recommend Wildwood.
Wonderful experience!!
course was in good shape and views are outstanding.
Only issue i had is carts are 22.00 which is high compared to other courses in the area that we play.
Disappointing
Had to wait every shot. 3 groups waiting on par 3 tee boxes. Will not be back.
Great course!
Surprisingly challenging this course will give you a run for your money.
Great fun
...but don’t be in a hurry. Because do many people enjoy this course the pace of play can be slow so just enjoy the beautiful scenery, a fun but challenging layout and a cold drink on an expansive deck overlooking the course when you’re fonishe. Now that’s a great day!
interesting, a fun course to play
challenging, but not overly difficult. some of the hills and overly sharp doglegs distracted a little bit of the fun
Wildwood is a hidden gem
This is my favorite course in Portland for the price. Quality wise, it compares to Langdon Farms.
Best after round view!
This is a fun course, that is amply challenging. The greens are kept in good shape and the fairways are decent.
The holes are tucked together fairly tightly, but mostly work well.
The clubhouse has a great view and the service was awesome.
