would not play here again if it were free
beautiful course. very challenging. Very nice greens. Staff was very nice. So why the bad review? played 14 holes in 4 and a half hours. No rangers anywhere to do something about pace of play. We walked off the course after 14 holes. Would have been 5 and a half hours if we had stayed for 18 holes. from what i have read, this is a frequent occurrence, yet others on this site say otherwise. Maybe it depends on the day?
Awesome
Bring your "big boy" pants, you're going to need them. All the challenge you're every going to want. You need accuracy everywhere on this course though the course is set up very fair. Very challenging greens. Course top notch everywhere. Very enjoyable
Difficult Layout
Course has many very narrow holes especially on the front nine. Greens were very fast with several difficult pin locations. Using a drive cart a necessary due to the many hills and slopes too.
When I was there, no practice range was available and course does not provide location to chip near putting green.
Bring your A game and extra golf balls to play Cyprian.
Course conditions good, staff poor
Course conditions were very good. Greens were in good shape and rolled well. Pace of play was good mostly because they had a club championship and we were one of the first groups out. Made us start on hole 10 though even though the first tee box was open for over half an hour. Poor communication and unfriendly staff. I would still recommend playing the course because it is one of the most challenging layouts in MA. Just don’t expect much from the staff.
Nice but tough,
Excellent conditions, the group in front of us was slow, had a couple open holes in front of them, 5 hour round.
Close to perfect
Got a hot deal on GolfNow for this round, but even regular pricing at this course is good value for what is a well maintained, attractive and very challenging course. My tee time was around 1 pm, but there were no groups ahead of me, so the starter told me to start as soon as I was ready. Paired up with a twosome, we raced around the course in 3 hours 40 mins, even though I was walking. On that last point - this is a tough course to walk. Make sure you are fit, hydrated and have calorific food to sustain you if you choose to walk. The course itself can be very punishing if you are offline with your tee shots and there are many par 4s and even most of the par 5s where you are wise to avoid taking driver, or maybe even have no choice, depending on how long you are. You’ll probably won’t believe the number of times you have to use a range finder from non-par 3 tee boxes.
Demanding Course
I played Cyprian on the day it opened. Other than the tee shot on 8 and 12, you could hit your ball into on hazard on every other shot on the course. Very demanding, and not at all forgiving. That being said, I've always liked the layout, and it is very satisfying to play a good round there. Just don't go there if you're not hitting the ball where you intend to hit it. It was a perfect day weather-wise, and I was surprised to learn that the tee sheet was very open. My brother and I were able to tee off at 12:40 for our 1:03 tee time. We were paired with a single who was walking, and finished the round in 3 hours and 40 minutes. It would have been faster but we caught up to a twosome in a cart on the back nine. Greens were in good shape, as was the rest of the course for the most part. I'll be back if the pace stays similar.
Great Course
Cyprian was in great shape, and I had a real good hot deal price. Otherwise, the course is pricey, but worth it at least for a few times per year. The only downside was pace of play; behind a very slow foursome.
Just not a great experience
Busy tee times seemed like the crammed a lot of golfers on course and it just took to long. Its a challenging course. Well maintained but for that price there are much better options
Great Course, Great Staff, Great Round
Loved playing here. The course was in great shape, the staff was a full 10 (shout out to Snack Stand Fran) Geeat Miz of target golf, driving holes, and long par 3s. I will be back
Great Course, Challenging but Rewarding!
Great Course. We lucked out with the hot deal price with a cart. Course was fantastic. 10/10 would play again.
Disappointed
For all I heard about this course I was very disappointed.
Greens were horrific. Slow and choppy. Pick marks and not well kept. Bunkers were not maintained, hard pan, little sand. Pace was terrible. I wouldn’t recommend it for the orice
Tough course but fair
Played in early November in 75 degrees weather so hard to complain,
Course was in great shape greens rolled nicely, leaves were not a factor only complaint was pace of play
Teed off at 12 36. Didn't even make the 16th hole by 5 no rangers to push anyone around my advice is to make players move faster, other than that thoroughly enjoyable
outstanding course demanding good placement
outstanding location in hilly forest. adjacent holes are rarely in view. great management. less of a driver course on every hole---more pick the right club for position. will improve your game
It's not the course, it's guys like you
This course is one of my favorites. The layout is a little quirky is places, but that's a quirck that I like. But that's where it ends memory wise. It's pretty clear they've seen a lot of rounds despite covid. And they've been letting a bunch of self absorbed narcisists play the place. That is the only explanation for the complete lack of effort on the part of the people playing the course to put their divots back and repair ballmarks on the green. It's as if nobody who plays there takes the time for these two minor courtesies. It's really bad. And it's never been this bad. I don't know what changed or who quit, but the place looks like no mans land, but instead of artillery, it's little golf ball sized bombs going off all over the place. Truly pathetic when a nice place becomes a crap hole because of divots and ball marks. As for pace of play, it was fine for us. It wouldn't hurt them to have a ranger out and about. But I suspect it's a member who drags their butt out there, which is why it's not an everyday thing like Stowe acres or Wachusett. Anyway, back to the good. Without the ballmarks the greens are subtle and roll pretty true. Other than thoughtless players, the place is in pretty good shape. The range is ok, but it's mats and you don't get very many balls for the money. Good for a warm up, but not for practice. I also took a lesson from the pro, Rick, and he's good. But he never called me back. I guess he's taught me all I need to know? (haha no, probably not.) I really wonder what's up with that. anyway, go find a place where the players know enough to pick up after themselves.
