Best Reese Jones I've played
Played BSN for the first time at the end of May 2017. The layout was awesome, really enjoy courses where you only see the hole your playing. Classic Reese Jones design with challenging yet scoreable holes, great elevation changes and visual deception from some tees. Three characteristics which makes this track a course I could play over and over as the back and one back tees provide a lot of risk reward options. Highly recommend this course. Pro Shop had great gear at reasonable prices as well.
Blackstone national
I was pleasantly surprised how nice the golf course was. Great conditions, great design. I did not know it was a Rees Jones design until after my round. Very unique experience. Each hole you where all by yourself. No houses no clutter.
I used every club in my bag. A good take. I made the trip in less than an hour from Boston.
Great course - one of best public in MA
Excellent course. 2nd time playing here this past weekend. Overall, the course is in fantastic shape. Teeboxes and fairways are in excellent condition. Some of the best greens I have played all year. On the faster side and true. Don't break as much as they look on many holes. Some challenges holes. Played from the blues - my father played from the whites. The handicap rating on the scorecards is helpful - we were evenly matched all day regarding 1st shots off the tee.
I have played almost all the "best" public courses in MA and this one is right at the top of the list. Very fun course with some challenging holes. Only 1 hour from Boston - cheaper than some of the courses around the city and far better than them in terms of condition.
Outstanding Course
Blackstone National is one of my favorite courses. Staff are always friendly. The course is always in great shape. The price is very reasonable. Even if your drives are not straight, it doesn't mean you'll be in trouble. A lot of fairways are pretty open, with a few that are narrow. You won't be disappointed when playing here.
Great New England Course...
The course challenges you to "keep it safe" with its layout, thick woods lining a lot of the holes. But there are plenty of opportunities to work your driver onto the fairways and have some fun. Some really great holes and great views all usually very well kept throughout the year.
The bunkers are frequently tight packed with the occasional loose stone. Play a relaxed rule out of the bunker to save your club, lift and rake because they don't always do a good job with keeping bunkers in good shape.
GPS on all the golf carts is pretty good, convenient when you can't see how far ahead the next group is in front of you or around a corner.
They have one of my favourite driving ranges in the area, all grass only, no mats. Overall one of my favourite courses in the area.
Overrated for the money
played in 90*+ heat and humidity and there was absolutely NO drinking water on the first 9 holes...the driveway coming in is a nightmare...potholes everywhere that need to be filled...the pro was unapologetic for lack of water saying that there should have been a cooler on one of the holes...they actually charge you $2 for small bottle at the turn...ridiculous when paying that crazy amount to play....course in good shape but not worth the money..go somewhere cheaper....
One of my favorites in New England
Blackstone National is one of my favorite courses in New England . From the staff to the layout to the condition, this is one over the better mid-range courses in the region. You can't compare all courses to each other but when you take out courses like Pinehills and Miacomet and compare Blackstone National to courses with the same rates and level of play it is one of the best. This course is worth the drive.
