Great Course
You can't beat a round of golf in Michigan in August. It's a good course for a hack like me. Though it's a bit hilly, and while I enjoy walking, this course would be a completely different course if I walked it. But it's a beautiful course, with big greens, some water, a few blind hills and dog legs. But it's fun. Definitely worth the trip.
The only other was the pace of play- a Saturday in August saw us stuck behind a couple of foursomes that just couldn't get it together, and wouldn't let anyone play through. Before we ran up on them, 2 of us averaged 10 minutes of a hole. We joined another 2some and we saw 12 minutes a hole. So we're on pace for a 3-3.5 hour pace.
We ended up having a 5+15 minute round. Which was recovered only by the amazing Michigan August weather, and the frequent visit by the cart girls.
Just what you would expect for a golf resort, just lacking GPS on carts.
Nicely groomed track. Not long but plenty of trouble to navigate around. There are a few blind holes and if you have never played it really need to drive down fairway before teeing off. You will also want to make sure it’s clear to hit as some of the landing areas are blind from tee and you do not want to hit into any other groups.
One of the things that one would expect at a golf resort is GPS on the carts. Luckily I have a very good app on my phone that shows where the trouble is. I bought a bushnell watch for about a $100 and they offer an app for your phone to pair with watch. I just leave the watch at home and use the app on my phone.
Fun layout, plenty of hills and lots of slope on most of the greens. The sand traps were decent and tee boxes and greens all in great shape,
Played both of the Gull Lake View courses on the same day. Started on the East and then played the West. The two courses felt quite different from one another, with the East course being much tighter and putting a premium on accuracy and shot placement off the tee. That being said, I felt the East course was a lot of fun to play!
CONDITIONS: The course was in excellent shape. The greens were fast and true. The fairways and tee boxes were in great shape, as were the bunkers.
VALUE: Received and “all day play” rate which I thought was a great value, and would (will) definitely do again!
LAYOUT: Played the White tees (5,545). Wasn’t sure what to expect given the shorter yardage, but everything exceeded expectations! This is all of “under 6,000 yards” you want to handle. Really good par 3s, and fun/strategic short par 4s. The front 9 is good, but the stretch of holes from #12 thru #17 was fantastic. Actually, #9 and #18 are the only forgettable holes.
Though I took a cart, I would walk this course. But I would only do so if it was the only 18 holes I was playing that day.
STAFF: The pro shop was very helpful.
PACE: As the first one off the tee for the day, the pace was excellent! I was able to take my time (and maybe replay) and enjoy the course.
Better Sprinkler Management
Need to turn off sprinklers during afternoon play. Greens were saturated, impacting putting. One green wasn’t accessible due to sprinkler being on.
Fun course
Love the elevation changes, and the electric golf carts. My wife and I are new to golf, and haven’t really used electric carts before. We own an electric car, and love it; now we love electric golf carts, too. After playing here, not sure we will play anywhere that doesn’t offer electric golf carts :)
Course was in great condition.
Easter round
Early season so greens were irritated and slow but over all in good shape. love this course!
Great Course
I have been playing at the Gull Lake Resort since about 1970!The East Course was in awesome shape today! Since I am older, your special rate of 34.00 total was affordable! I am hoping for these rates at all of their courses! Sincerely Mr Mayhew
Goose poop
Besides the goose poop which was everywhere! It was a decent course challenging enough for good golfers and easy enough not so good golfers
Great Fall golf day at Gull Lake East
Beautiful fall day with full Michigan colors at Gull Lake East. This is why we golf in late October!
