Excellent for the money
I have played Mistwood several times and the hot deal rate is a steal.
Better than expected
tricky holes #7 red and #7 white.
I found course to be a great track in terms of views and layout. Some links style and some rolling through woods. Got great deal on green fees through on-line reservation. Would play again if in area. Club pro, Jeff was very personable and gave me a free tip!
Crisp afternoon round
Cool temperatures, great scenery, well maintained course.....great experience. Almost felt like fall golf.
Great day on the course
Course was in good shape. We could play at our own pace, as there were few other people on the course.
Definitely would play Mistwood again. Course was nice and open, so a few wayward shots were not too penalizing, which made the round very enjoyable.
Hot Deal - YES, Regular rate - NO
With the abundance of courses in the area, I don't see why anyone would pay full price for this course. Black tees look like they have been unused and unkept for 2-3 years, there are mushrooms in the fairways, and ant hills on some greens.
Staff was extremely nice and pace of play was never a problem.
enjoyed, well be back
NIce course- must really be beautiful in the fall.
There are a few holes where you cannot see the pins until you're well down the fairway. A more detailed course guide would be helpful. Not having the knowledge cost me some strokes
This course was in good shape
Have played here before and like the course. Not too easy but not extremely difficult.
Poor condition for late summer
This course has a lot of grass kill on the fairways and greens. Large brown spots of dead grass.
The sand bunkers have lots of stones in them and the liners are shredded and grab your club as you swing in them. They also are not trimmed out well and grass overhangs in many spots.
The fairways had lots of mushy overwatered areas that your shoes mushed down into. No rain for weeks so not due to weather.
This course has no ball cleaners, drinking water, or waste baskets at any of the tee boxes.
We booked the round via golf now and our tee time was right in the middle of a womens league. We were 3 sets of 4 man teams back when our tee time should have started. When I complained that we would have such a long wait, it was suggested that we start off the back 9 but we would then be in the middle of a mens league and it would be slow play there too.
Why they booked our tee time during leagues -- I don't know.
There was no staff there to help load our clubs or prep carts and there was no starter.
They did have a nice snack shack and staff there was excellent.
Great course
Love Mistwood! Staff is great, price is right, and course is beautiful. I'll be back many times.
Challenging and Fun
The course is in great shape and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Had a great time!
Beautiful Day
Perfect weather for golf- Nice course- a little bit of everything. Fast greens. 5 sets of tee boxes.
Good bang for your buck
Caught a great deal ( $25/18 holes ) and had great weather.
Nice course
Enjoyed the course .. It was busy but still finished in 4 hours . Right on time .. Couple greens needed water but overall very satisfied
still the toughest greens
always loved the course. played it for years. still haven't made a putt.
Memorial Day Golf
1st time using GN. Great deal and great course****
Something growing in the bunkers?
Hopefully the weather (cold and wet spring) is to blame for the conditions on the course. There was all sorts of weeds (trees) starting to grow in a number of the bunkers? Realizing this course depends on the heather to really give it the full effect - made for easier playing conditions! I was glad I did not pay more than I did ($13 + fee) - they were charging $49 for the holiday rate and for the condition I would say that was not worth it (maybe in the summer when the course is in full bloom - meaning the heather)!
First time here and an enjoyable experience
We will come back. We had a mix of golfer and we all enjoyed it.
Great northern Michigan golf.
Have been coming up to northern Michigan for several years and mistwood has always been a must play for me. Great facility super friendly staff and some of the finest green complexes in the area. Three great nine hole courses, five sets of tees on each to challenge any level of golfer. Played early in season after what was a very rough and long winter but despite that the course was in mid season form. Overall a great facility for all levels of golfer, so if in the lake Ann area give this coursea try.
Greens were superb!
Mistwood is golfer friendly with large landing areas off the tees. Greens are well bunkered and very receptive. They held my shots well but rolled quick and true, which I prefer. Mike, our starter, was super friendly and accommodating. Would love to go back when we're in the Traverse City area again.
