The Links at Crystal Lake
As always we enjoyed playing the course. It's generally in good condition, but today the greens were pretty beat up, due to numerous ball marks and were a bit long. It could of been because it has been excessively hot. Not a long course but has some challenging holes.
Fun course, inexpensive, easy to score on
This course has a nice variety of holes. The people that work the course are always really nice. The layout might be a little bland for some. Generally, you won't use all the clubs in your bag on this track. With a couple of exceptions on the par 5's, you can play this course pretty easily with a driver, a 7 iron, a couple of wedges and a putter. The pace of play can be a problem sometimes. They don't do a good job of getting after foursomes that are slowing down the pace. But I guess this goes hand-in-hand with it being such a good value -- it attracts a lot of beginning golfers for that reason. If you play "smart golf" and play to keep the ball in the short stuff all the time it's not too difficult to break 90 on this course, even for high handicappers.
Fun round
Fun little course. It was in nice shape greens rolled well. We had fun, a good bang for the buck. We will return.
Enjoyable Course
I always like playing The Links at Crystal Lake. If it's at all busy the front nine is slow because of the odd layout. The only problem I have with this course is the poor condition of the sand traps. Adding sand would be a big help. But if the management would just rake them every morning it would be a big improvement. Most are hard pan dirt.
Diverse characters
If you want to deal with diversity, come to Crystal Lake. You will encounter all sorts of people who like to fish in the ponds like it's a rice paddy, or if you're not careful, watch out for the locals across the fence, they don't like the lighter people. Sorry I tried wrighting what I wanted to but it keeps blocking me.
Hidden Gem!
I find myself recommending this course to friends often. Many didn't know about it or haven't played it. Everyone that I've brought there has loved it!
`Beautiful Course & Layout
If you would like to experience a unique course with an island par-3, The Links at Crystal Lake is is your course. It's a great layout with picturesque views on both the front and back nine. Everyone should play it at least once, and then it's charm will bring you back again.
Course
This is a hidden gem. Short course but very challenging. Would play again
Great Course!
Fun course to play. Holes are not overbearing. Golfers of all skill levels can enjoy this course.
Unprofessional golfers
The players in front of us were too slow and drove back to pick our balls.
Short but fun
Not a real long course but it still can be a challenge. Greens tend to be really slow but consistent. You can take risks and for scrambles it’s fun.
Pontiac's Little Gem
I was pleasantly surprised at this course located in the middle of Pontiac. I'm an eastsider, so I didn't even know it was there. Beautiful scenery, and just enough challenge to keep the day interesting. Hope to return again someday! :)
Great course for the value
Crystal Lake is a great course to play when you need to fit in a practice round or just to improve your overall game. Pace of play has always been good. Average round usually takes under 4 hours.
The course condition was "average" if you compare it to mid-season time i.e. it was early spring and we haven't had enough good weather to have things green up.
Fun course
The management was extremely friendly, and courteous. The greens were in good shape, we did catch a 4 some of older gentlemen on the back 9 who were exceptionally slow. But with the perfect weather conditions it didn't infuriate us, we just conversed as we waited between shots.
Good layout & length
Good to improve play, and sharpen game. Pace of play just right.
great first time out here this season
course was in pretty good repair for this early in the season. greens were a bit faster/dried out still but everything else was great considering the weathers only been decent about 2 weeks.
