About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 10/2019.
Silver Lake Country Club originally opened in 1925 as a nine-hole golf course. The back nine was added a few years later and soon after the course served as host to one of the first professional tournaments in the state. The ever-evolving golf course underwent a complete redesign in 1992 and in 2014 it was opened to the public. Silver Lake's layout sprawls across rolling hills, dappled with mature trees and edging along the shores of its namesake lake. The scenic landscape will challenge golfers with varied undulations ranging from subtle to dramatic. Water comes into play on several holes and while the bunkering may be sparse, the strategic placement along the greens will make you think carefully about your approach. Silver Lake Country Club is a layout that is player friendly enough for beginners and juniors but from the back tees, it also has appeal for seasoned golfers.

Great Value
Nice layout. Good pace of play. Just enough challenge for the average player.
Nice Course
Greens are in great shape. They roll true and have good pace. Not real long but if you spray there are plenty of trees. Most holes are bunkered green side. Has a little bit of everything, hazards, out of bounds ,some tight holes. most holes tree lined. Used to be a private course. Still in good shape.
Country Club gone public.
Typical private old school course that has gone public. Fairways were average at best. Sand traps have dirt. Only saving grace is that the greens were nice and rolled true with good speed plus they had good undulations. Scorecard is misprinted. It shows a big pond on hole 14 but there isn't one. Grounds crew were inconsiderate and should be replaced. On two holes the same guy waited until the middle of our backswings to fire his chainsaw. He was only 100 yards away and watching us. On the 14th hole two ground crew members walked up to the green as we walked off and installed a huge sprinkler that they proceeded to turn on even though the green was waterlogged from the previous nights rain so it clearly wasn't needed. They then pretended to lose control of it and turned it at us and soaked us. We exchanged a few words on that and as we drove away I looked back and saw them laughing. You only get one chance to make a good first impression and this course and its staff missed the mark. I will not be returning to this facility.
Silver Lake July 2015
Good Course. Not long but good layout. Somewhat hilly and undulating greens
Good place to enjoy a round of golf
Overall this course was nice. The course is in great shape well maintained. Greens were pure, not really difficult to read. We had a great pace of play, we had a 10 am tee time and managed to finish around 145pm. The fairways are narrow so you have to keep it in play. Overall the course is not fairly difficult, except for a few blind shots everything else was playable. You'll enjoy this course if your a beginner or an average player. If your a scratch golfer this might be too easy for you.
Course is decent, but many blind shots to the green
Wife & I have played here several times in the past 2 years. Course is always wide open if you get there between 10-3. An old school design with far too many blind shots to the green. Also plays far too long for women (only 3 sets of tees... might want to add a 4th set). greens were in very good condition and many bunkers had new sand.
Very good value
The course difficulty made it a very good value for the money. It has some very difficult holes where even with a couple of excellent shots you can end up with a double bogey. Has quite a few blind shots.
Nice Condition
This was a nice course with a lot of side by side straight away holes. With the exception of # 9 and 10 there wasn't much strategy involved. Most of the holes had large greens with only 1or 2 traps on it. This would be a good course for beginners.
Over booking
They had 4 of the same tee times at 9:45 so the first tee was very crowded and took awhile to get the pace of place where it needed to be
good course for price
I paid 19 a person with cart on super deal. Well worth that price. Would pay 25 easy. Lots of sand for added difficulty. Course seemed well maintaines and they were adding flowers and rocks for looks while I was there. Staff was helpful and grounds team was patient. Bad side. Not exciting. It didnt have black tees and it needed a little extra for difficulty. No real hills. Did have water but not very threatening.
In need of TLC
The course Ned's weed killer and a mower. Course layout is nice and challenging. But, easy to see why it is now a public facility.
Great condition for early in the season.
Very nice course for the price. Can't wait to come back later in the season when everything really greens up!
Silver lake
Staff was friendly and helpful. Course was in great shape. Golfed as a twosome on a Sunday afternoon and moved right along. Use to be a private course that went public this year. I will definitely go again. Would've been nice to have a beverage cart on course other than that it was a great place to golf
Great Value
If you like old style courses, this one is a great one to play. Greens rolled true with speed, the rest of the course was in great shape. Not the longest course but still very challenging. Great value to play and will be a very busy course when the word gets out that they are now offering public play.
Great Golf Experience !
I love this course ! It's in great condition , greens are generous in size , roll true . 99% of recreational golfers will enjoy this course , I'm 61 years old and used every club in my bag . If you're 27 years old , scratch golfer ,or play mini tours , your ego wants a longer course . If you want a "private club experience" , that has limited tee times for the public , this is the place for you .
Good course for Golf Now rates
Value with use of Golf Now. Felt crowded on front nine with many groups on course and fairways so close to each other. Will be back for more rounds.
Ownership is horrible
My daughter had a collared shirt with nice dress shorts! They said the were too short! Seriously!!!! Have you seen the shorts stores sell? They had her put on these plastic tight pants in 80 degree weather! I could see if they were ripped shorts or jean shorts! Being our first time at the course you would think they could say....next time please wear longer shorts or capris! I've golfed much nicer courses in the area! So not worth the hastle! We'll bring our business else where!
Greens are in great conditions. Long fairways.
Had a great time but very slow play on 2nd 9 holes due to the 4some ahead of us. One player was always lagging behind due to being on cell phone all the time. Saw no course rangers.
Great course for the money
Overall a really great course challenging for all golfers of any type
