It’s Golf but it’s not Great
With three courses on one property, I suppose you can expect it to be busy and for the staff to be a bit strung out. I had to wait to be given a cart once one became available and the line at the first tee meant I didn’t take my first swing until about thirty minutes after my scheduled tee time. The pace of play continued to be very slow through the first few holes but did eventually speed up. The tee boxes and greens were in fine condition but the fairways were a little iffy. With 54 holes packed together, most holes are dead straight. Overall, it was fine and for the money wasn’t terrible. I don’t plan to go back, but if you are considering going know that you can certainly enjoy yourself if your expectations are set correctly.
Wish there was a worse score!
This place was literally miserable. Fairways don’t exist while the greens are shag carpeting. The Pace of play was the worst part while we only finished 7 holes in 2.5 hrs. Please don’t waste your money here!!
Quantity Over Quality
Overall experience here was terrible. They overbooked the course and did not space out the tee times at all which caused terribly long delays at every hole. At one point there were FOUR separate groups waiting to tee off on a single hole. It was impossible to find any groove when you are waiting 10 min to tee off on every hole. I understand that a slow group can cause a back up but this was just unacceptable. Course conditions for fairways and greens were fair but the rough was unplayable. I would NOT recommend playing this course. You can get much better value elsewhere in the Metro Detroit area.
Just want to enjoy the game.
If you are looking for Augusta National then go somewhere else. People’s expectations are out of control. $35 is a steal of a good time at Maple Lane. The staff is very accommodating and wants you to have fun. The greens are always in great shape for a place that does 100,000 rounds a year. Rough can be tricky especially in the spring when everyone is trying to keep up with their grass. The manager is always willing to talk about the golf business and take the time to hear about your day! I highly recommend Maple Lane for a round of golf that is fun with friends and let’s hit some good shots.
Great value, Can't hate
3 course complex with very friendly staff. I played West. Some of the fairways were a little torn up, but overall it was in good shape. Much better than I expected, considering some of the previous reviews I had read. Bunkers are sparse on west but taken care of and freshly raked. Layout is tight & very old school. The holes are all next to one another, so you can play a lot of balls into the other fairways relatively easily. I played at 7:30 AM so the pace was great, can't speak to other times of day. 3 hours and 40 minutes for 18. If you complain about $35 dollar weekend morning rounds - you're a snob. I'll be back to Maple Lane to play the other tracks.
Busy but so worth it
Maple Lane is one of the busiest, friendliest most well run golf courses I have been to in recent memory. 54 holes of great greens and fun times. Courses like Maple Lane do their best with what they offer. The managers will always listen and the staff takes fast and good care of you. In this day and age with online, phone call and in person tee times they do it better than anyone with that many holes to manage. The price is worth it people want Augusta National for nothing these days and people who do not know the business have NO business writing a review.
Slow play and no carts
over played and just trying to get everyone out. No starters to monitor pace of play. Lots of new golfers out there.
Bland course
Course is quite flat, only hole 18 has some varied terrain. Greens have some old school charm, but it ends there. There are much better courses to seek out in the area.
Where are the fairways?
This course would be pretty good for someone new to the game but otherwise, not worth it. Only thing giving it three stars are the tee boxes and greens. They're pretty fast and smooth. Only a 68.4/111? I'm ashamed i didn't break 80 here. (Still haven"t LOL). The east and north were even easier than that! Thank god they let me on the west course or else I would've just gone to Rammler up the road. Bunkers were hard and not enough sand. In their defense they were wet, as it had rained the day before. The fairways aren't even fairway they're more like rough? I had a hard time finding my ball on a few holes. Rates aren't ridiculous, but still not worth it.
