Washtenaw Golf Club
About
Located in between Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor, Washtenaw Golf Club, founded in 1899, is one of the most historic clubs in the state of Michigan. The club was private for most of its history, but an ownership change in 2019 turned this venerable layout into one of the area’s best public experiences. The 18-hole course plays 6,512 yards from the championship tees, though there are four sets of tees The club is in the midst of a multi-year restoration and enhancement project, guided by architect Ray Hearn, that includes green enlargements, tree management, and in the installation of some new championship tees. Facilities here include a putting green, small driving range, chipping green, and a large clubhouse, grill and bar, patio and event space.

Has potential but too pricey
Titles says it all, you can see how this course could easily be $80 a round, but the course conditions do not warrant $80 a round. A solid $50-$60 place for sure but I’ve played MANY nice courses for less than what I paid at this place.
Steal.of a deal
If this course was geographically located in NC the price to play would at least double.
Course is an old fashioned, beautifully maintained gem. The fairways were lush and the greens were lightening. There are no houses along the course, giving it an elite Country Club feel. Course opened in 1899 and it truly has that old course feel.
I will have to play this course again and again to make sure it really is as good as I'm saying.
Great As Always
This course is an awesome challenge every time. The new back tees make it even more difficult than before, and I am all for it. The greens are fast, the pin locations are devious, and the fairways are tight enough to make 6700 yards all that is needed to challenge and frustrate people far better than I. The par 7 6th hole is always impossible, and hole 7 is one of my favorite holes anywhere.
Fastest greens in the area
Make sure you make time to get there early and practice on the greens, they are extremely fast.
Used to be a country club, now it's open to the public. Carts are old, clubhouse is old, no significant investments made. There were foursomes of 60+ year olds every other hole that slowed down the pace for everyone else. Don't expect to be under 4 hours here.
Cart GPS was a plus, but there's no touchscreen to plan shots. Pace of play is not monitored on the GPS. Had issues on some tee boxes getting the GPS to show the correct hole.
Very green course. Lots of old, big trees. A few holes with interesting elevation changes. A bit frustrating to have to hit fairway woods/irons off the tees on par 4's, but not as bad as other courses in that respect.
One of SE MI’s best courses
Always in good condition and has challenging greens. Great course. Fun to play.
Washtenaw a sleeping beauty!!
Our group of 8 from Cleveland played Washtenaw recently, and quickly became a contender in my top 10 public courses!! Let's start with a modest green fee of 40.00 weekday, superb greens, very fast & smooth, never had to touch ball in fairways, bunkers also good condition. Small driving range, pace of play was 4 hrs. Staff was on point. Our entire group raved about Washtenaw & planning a return visit soon. Well done, don't change a thing !!!
Great value for the money that is in excellent shape.
As an older course, it is not particularly long but is in great shape with challenging, fairly quick greens. One of the lower priced courses in the area but is in as good or better condition than Michigan, Eagle Crest, Lake Forest or Stonebridge.
Fantastic Course
First time playing this course. Well maintained, excellent pace of play 3.5 hours for 18. Staff is extremely friendly. Would highly recommend playing this course.
great course
The course is great and staff is friendly. I especially like the fast green. However, the pace of the play is too slow. It is more than 5 hours, I had to wait on every shot. I had to leave after 12 holes which is almost 3.5 hours.
First visit
Great layout. I particularly enjoyed the elevation changes. Conditions overall were surprisingly good for the time of year. I'll be back next time I'm in the area.
