Tornado Damage from 3/28
I believe a tornado hit the course on or about 3/28, but they've done an amazing job putting things back together. Several trees had to be cut down, especially on hole 5 where local neighborhood houses had blue tarps on the roofs, and the tornado just demolished some of the trees (giant 6 foot diameter oaks reduced to splinters). On hole 4 (par three), they had to put a temporary green on the approach.
Nice walking course. Fair price.
I usually play this course due to proximity and value. I am grateful to have a well kept course to practice my skills. I would like to walk 9 holes in 2 hrs or less, but that is not always the case. If play is slow, I usually play two balls and just enjoy the practice time. If you take it for what it is (beginner's course, easy, accessible, affordable), you will better enjoy yourself. I play a lot, but I still prefer playing out here and look forward to the club championship this fall.
Ruth Park 03/14/2014
This course seems to always be in good condition, even in the cold months. A little hilly but easily walkable. Nice course and a great deal for a quick nine holes.
Slow players..
Course condition was good.
Green fee was nice, but the cart fee was pretty high.
There was a group of 6 playing 2 holes in front of us. They were very very slow. Other players were single or two-some... and this big group was holding everyone without offering "play thru"...
Ridiculously slow
My tee time was 12:40. I didn't tee off until around 1:00. The two groups in front of me held up the entire course. There was a twosome that looked like they had never played before followed by a slow walking foursome that played at a very deliberate pace and took around 10 minutes to putt on each green. The twosome only lasted through the second hole but the foursome played slow the whole day. There was a Marshall but he never did anything to address the slow play. When I got to the fifth green I could see wholes 7-9 wide open and holes 2-4 behind me wer jam packed. The last 4 times I have been to this course on the weekend I have had to wait at least 10 minutes after my tee time to tee off.
The course has interesting holes that will challenge most folders
I liked this course a lot. The t boxes were level, the fairways ( zoysia ) set the ball up nicely, and the greens were fast. Hole Number 6 will challenge the best golfer. Very nice 9 hole course.
best place for a practice round!
Ruth Park is a a mature, well maintained course. Not very long but the lay out has challenges.
Easy course to play.
Course is in great shape. Not busy and easy to get in nine walking under two hours.
this course is best 9 hole course that I have played in the area

Outstanding public course!
From my first time until my last, I enjoyed playing this course. The greens were in excellent shape and the fairways very well maintained. The course offers an enjoyable challenge to golfers of all levels. I look forward to playing the course again.
Well maintained
In the past few years Ruth Park has become one of the nicest municipal courses in the area.
Good course conditioning, not expensive, gets crowded
Ruth Park is a great layout that's well maintained. It's in a location that's easily accessible to both STL City and County residents. There's no bunkers or large water hazards, but it's still challenging with some tight driving holes and lots of uneven lies. It does get crowded, but the staff works hard to maintain tee time intervals and I almost always get through 9 holes in 2:15 (or less# walking. A couple of downsides: 1.) they have leagues throughout the week and it's almost impossible to get a tee time Mon-Fri in the after work hours. 2.) If I book through golfnow there's about a 50% chance I'll be criticized by the counter personnel for not booking through the pro shop. 3.) They always pair up groups during the busier times - which is positive in that I've met and played with some great people and it keeps up pace of play, but I've also seen my share of mentally unstable folks #i.e. last year I was put into a random foursome where one player threw his putter at someone else in the group who he claimed "was stepping in his line and working against him to sabotage his score"). Also I played last weekend, and was berated by a guy on the practice green who said that I had a lot of nerve "putting to 'his' hole, in his section of the green".
Avoid the weirdos and I'd say you've got a good chance of having a really enjoyable round.
Great place to play 9 holes
They have done a wonderful job with the course. The fairways and greens are in very good shape. Its a great way to spend 2 hrs on a sunny afternoon.
Good 9-hole course
My favorite 9, great mid-county location, can always play for $20 or less. Simple course but greens and fairways are in very good shape. Holes #3 and #5 are truly fun and challenging given the hills and sloped greens.
Easy to play about a 2-hour nine most weekdays. Weekends can be a bit slower as you occassionaly you get some beginners, but the Marshals do a good job if there is a problem.
Great Deal and Great Golf
I enjoy Ruth Park. It is wide open for even the most novice of golfers and the course is in great shape. It is a 9 hole course nestled in a neighborhood in University City where you wouldn’t think a golf course would be located. The course is very straightforward with maybe two dogleg holes on it. It has a nice little diner area and mini-pro-shop…something you wouldn’t expect from this area. The price simply could not be beat for this area. I walked all nine for $8.00 but even with a cart, it is very inexpensive. I would highly recommend this 9-hole course over any other course in the St. Louis/Creve Coeur area.
I had been wanting to play this course all year. We walked 9 holes and had a great time. Good luck finding your ball if it goes OTB.
great course, great deal, great day for golf had a good time
