A pretty winter day. Photo submitted by geno929 on 01/20/2013
Very good shape
The course was in excellent shape. I signed up as a single, but showed up before the group they put me with and they let me go ahead and play by myself. (Which I preferred). I played 18 in under 3 hrs teeing off at 6:40am. The only issue I had with the course was the gnats!! The first 5-6 holes they were really brutal. They were all In the ears and eyes while setting up for your shot. So bring some bug spray if you tee off early!!
Challenging
Really tough course, lots of water!! However the doglegs allowed me to play my slice a lot.
Horrible condition
Worst kept course I have ever been on. The rough was almost kneecap high. Greens were way to furry. Has the potential to be nicest course in STL but nobody takes care of it. Food was way over priced 3 dollars for a Gatorade. But what can you expect it's ran by the Union. No lie it's a pipe fitters union.
Faster Greens, and It's a Winner
The course is in very good shape. All they need to do is cut the greens and roll,....up the stimp, and this course would be great!
Slow
The course is a great value based on the price. However, pace of play is too slow. Ran into a group of six golfers, and the marshall seemed unwilling to speed up play.
Great course!
I play Emerald Green at least 10-15 times a year. It's a very nice and well maintained course. Although some holes are extreme tricky it is a fun challenge.
Could be great
If they put some money into this place it would be great. Cool layout. Tough course. Overall good experience.
NIce course
First time playing here. I would go back. Fairways were in decent shape for early in the season, although the grass was still dormant. The only complaint was the greens. They had been aerated a few weeks ago and were recovering nicely, but the roll and speed was still inconsistent - lots of hopping and skittering . Would be nice to go back in mid-summer to see the course in it's prime. Some neat holes, especially on the back 9 where water comes into play frequently.
This course is well maintained.
This is a challenging and exciting course. Marshall on course but no starter. I always enjoy playing this course!!!
Greens need to be rolled and cut. Awful.
My first time playing course was on a Friday. While it was busy the pace of play was painfully slow. The marshal never tried to combine the multiple twosomes on course or force other foursome to speed up or skip a hole. Greens were so bumpy from being plugged but never rolled smooth and the grass on greens was longer than fairway, very slow. I WILL NOT RETURN. Course has great potential, with a difficult layout and unquie features.
madbimmer
The course as usual is great, but the greens were errated and that ruins scoring conditions. In the future it would nice golf ettiqute if they would tell you the course has errations. This is a great course that challenges a player on every shot, just enough water to be scary, and just enough trees to keep you accurate. In the future please address the greens, and maybe cut them also. 8-10 on the stimpmeter is reasonable.
Great Course. Worth the Drive
I always enjoy Emerald Greens. It has one of the best layouts in all of STL. If the amount of work they are putting into the course is any indication of the conditions to expect later this year, it will be one of the nicest courses around.
An interesting round of golf
This was the first time I had played this course, and was pleasantly surprised. Though they had had a frost delay and were behind, once on the course, pace was good. The course is an interesting layout that will require careful club selection. The greens were in good shape for the time of year and the weather we have had. I would like to play it again in the summer when the trees have leaves. Overall, a pleasant experience and an interesting course. Well worth the drive (for me).
Nice Course - Great Deal
With a rare 70 degree day the course was full but still fun to play! It was very windy tho or I would have given the weather an excellent They have some very challlenging "blind" holes where you are not really sure where you are hitting the ball to and quite a few over the water holes that are beautiful and challenging! Got an excellent price on GolfNow so the fee was definietly worth the course :)
Good course for all levels of play.
Fairly seamless golf from start to finish. Since winter rules applied during this round due to very windy conditions the round was better than normal.
Emerald
Great course, unless you are a scratch golfer play the silver, play is slow too many playing wrong tee box, it is decieving in distance expecially back nine.
neat course, average overall
The course is in pretty good shape. This course is challenging yet simple (it makes sense to me). We asked to play some extra holes after our round ( we were going to pay, about 45 minutes of daylight left) and they told us no. I have never been denied that. Beware of drill sergeant at the cash register, but overall a pretty good place.
play this course multiple times
this course is challenging but not so much that I would not play it againit. several holes you have to layup or hit to a pin in the fairway to set yourself up for the next shot
nice course features
Price of green fees was great. Layout of course was a nice challeng hope to it again soon in bettet weather.
