Downhill - New Pro
I’ve been playing this course for 10 plus years and this is the worst it’s ever been. Kevin used to be the pro and the course was in much better shape. The tee boxes were trashed. They don’t know how to move the tees up or back to prevent this? It’s so easy. The bunkers looked like they haven’t been raked in months and are pretty much dirt. Once again an easy thing to do. Greens were in good condition but they were very very fast for June. I can promise they will be burnt up by mid July/August. Take your 80 bucks elsewhere so you don’t torture yourself with a 6 hour round due to slow players. Course isn’t worth more than $40 bucks. That’s being generous. The owner clearly only cares about the food which is mediocre at best. 2 of out 10 overall. Huge decline since Kevin left.
Tapawingo Day after Memorial Day
Very scenic course. Played the Woodlands / Prairie combo. The woodlands tee boxes are complete garbage. They are on the same level as Normandie tee boxes. But at least at Normandie you know what you’re getting for $25. The Woodlands greens aren’t good at all. Especially considering what this place charges on the weekends. Even a hot deal on GolfNow was overpriced for the conditions on Woodlands. The boxes and fairways on Prairie were in good shape overall except for the giant washout area on #9 fairway. The greens were slightly better on Prairie compared to woodlands but not by much. I don’t want to hear the excuse that “it’s been a tough spring, blah blah.” Gateway, Landings, Spencer, even Normandie greens are in great shape by now. I will give this course a year or two to hopefully recover to what once was one of the better courses in the Stl area before I come back.
Horrible condition
This use to be a very nice course.
Not anymore. Condition was terrible (tee boxes, greens , fairways, etc).
We won’t be playing there any time soon.
Aerated and sandy greens!
This course was way over priced for freshly aerated greens. If you are trying to shoot a good score on the greens, it’s impossible. My ball was bouncing 3 in in the air. Course has a great layout and is very fun but putting is out of the question and ur paying 75 on a Saturday. Hopefully they fix the greens soon or change the size of the aeration because this is a great course.
Slow Play
First off, it was cart path only. Although we had rain throughout the week, I feal the course was dry enough to not restrict. Also, one we began, there was no marshal policing the course, We had a twosome directly in front of us that were out there to teach each other on every shot and a foursome in front of them that kept hitting multiple shots if they did not like their prior shot.
Bring your beach shoes
Gotta say we were extremely disappointed in our round this weekend. I understand greens need to be aerated, but these greens were completely unplayable. Surface about about 1/2 inch of sand across every green we played. Putting was not an option and we were not even warned about this prior to tee off. Nearly $60 for this round and I dont think we will back anytime soon.
SSH
The course was not totally ready for play because the grass was brownish, greens were aerated, and tee boxes were not well kept. It is a decent course but too much up and down. I did not enjoy playing it.
Hot course
It was kind of crazy. We were playing and they had the course burning on fire. We drove through flames next to us just off the cart path getting black ash on us. Besides that course was good.
Course is looking good
One of the last times I was out on the course, it was in pretty rough shape. But it's soooo good to see the loving that's been put into bringing the course back to its OG status.
