Great Shape
Played On a Friday 12:54 T time
Course was in Great Shape
Played as a 3 some
Pace was fast no waiting
T box fairways and greens were fantastic
All bunkers were raked
Players need to repair their divots
Fix yours and find two more to repair
Great tract
An enjoyable course that can be played as long or short as you like. Lots of variety in the holes. Lots of fun to play.
Long slow day
Not a fan however a lot of my impression of the day was formed by the fact that I was paired with three players of NO skill who insisted on playing back tees but none of whom could break 150. Not the course's fault but a marshal would have been helpful as we really fell behind the group in front. and I felt really bad for the people behind us as well. I suggested we let people go though but the 3 were no comprehendez. The course winds its way through residential development. Again, not a fan of OOB stakes 10 yards off a fairway. All that said, the course was in good shape and presents a good test. I would suggest anyone who plays play from age/skill appropriate tees but I sggest everywhere, all the time. it is in the economic interests of golf courses to maintain pace of play
Great course
Best public course greens around. Worst thing about the course is they don’t charge enough. No reason this course should be cheaper than the junk courses that surround it. Low prices bring out people who do not respect the course. Otherwise it’s a great course. Not very forgiving which is nice
No more
I used to consider this my home course. I’ve played it probably 15 times this year alone. I don’t think I’ll be back. The course has so much potential. So much. The course is being run into the ground. I showed up early to hit the range. I didn’t realize on Thursday mornings they mow the driving range so it’s closed in the mornings. I was informed this by a groundskeeper very angrily yelling at me right as I exit my car. Immediate yelling. Hadn’t even got my clubs out of the trunk. Okay. Went and played, starting on the back 9. Back 9 was fine, pace was surprisingly good for this course. Got to #1. Entire fairway aerated. No notice from staff at check in or on social media. Ended up being multiple fairways.
It’s genuinely a shame what’s happening to this course, it’s a really fun track. The lack of course amenities and the staff are declining rapidly. The other players are a nightmare of huge proportion but that’s a story left for another day.
I’m sorry Bear Creek, but I won’t be coming back, even for a $25 hot deal.
5:42am tee time
Absolutely ran like trash now. We booked a 5:42a tee time, we rolled up to the tee box at 5:38 and there were 8 people waiting to tee off. It took us 3hr 25mins to play 6 holes bc it was so backed up. When we asked the staff if there was a Marshall on duty and the answer was “he won’t be in until 9, I just grab the carts.” Tee boxes were in “ok” condition. I will not be giving another dime to this facility. Take your money right down the street to Golf Club of Wentzville.
Friday afternoon round
Pace wasn't bad for a Friday - a few backups which could be better managed but nothing major.
Front 9 fairways were recent aerated with the "soil turds" and uneven grass causing all sorts of redirection of tee shots and difficulty with approach shots.
Greens were running quick and challenging.
New management making a difference
New management in the last 2 years is making a big difference on course conditions tees to Green as well as pace of play.
St. Charles Pace of Play
Course is what it is and meets expectations for St. Chuck. Rain has been sparse so plays into the condition of the course. Few rough spots in FWs, greens little dry with a lot of bounce. Typical ball marks you see when folks are lazy. Got paired with two singles which made it somewhat bearable and enjoyed the company. As a twosome it would’ve been brutal slow. Groups on the course were hitting multiple tee shots, multiple shots in FW with no awareness in pace of play. I understand the rules of golf and when retee or drops are needed. Staff did have a starter and ranger which is nice to see. Getting pairings correct is critical so I do give the staff props at least with my time getting paired. You do see folks breaking off at other courses. Creating another tee time and causing it to be even slower. Took 4hr 52mins with a 90 degree rule. If you have 5 hours to kill any tee time after 11am would work. Earlier time the better imo.
Course in great shape
Bear Creek is in great shape
Bunker work is done, Bunkers were all raked
Greens were firm, and fast
T box’s and fairways were great
We were a Threesome and had a father and son join us on #1. Dad wasn’t playing yesterday, just his son.
We played from the gold T’s we are all 65 or older
I started playing when i was 23, and yesterday I had the privilege of watching a 10 year old play the best round of golf of anyone I have ever played with.
Wish him all the best
So much potential
I love this course and the facilities. It has a few issues. On this particular day the pace of play was excellent. Most days expect 4.5 hours to ride 18. Course has so much potential, I think it’s greatest drawback is the type of players that play here. The greens are always littered with pitch marks that players never repair. There are always one or two busted sprinkler heads pouring water over a fairway somewhere. There are exactly zero ball washers on the course, and the two bathroom facilities (not at the clubhouse) are absolutely disgusting. I love this place, but man they need to be more strict with the clientele.
