Fun 9 holer
I enjoy playing different courses so keep this in mind with this review hilltop is in rolling hills that go down and up in the fairways are narrow because of mature trees. It is not a long course by any means and most of the par fours are between 304 120 yards. But one part three is 200 yards. The par fives are very long and are both down hill and back up hill. But it is a small town and everybody is friendly and you can get in a couple games of pitch in the clubhouse when you’re done
Pretty straight forward
I paid $16 for 18 and a cart using my Big Red Golf Pass
The course is pretty straight forward. The first 4 holes are down, up, down up and pretty short. If you can't keep it straight, you will be in trouble, but using an iron off the tee isn't a penalty.
The course is well maintained and the greens were in pretty good shape. They were really fast on the day that I played (which I like). The greens also offer some contour so putting is not a snap.
Overall its a pretty nice little course. I would recommend it for a quick, fun round.
Deceivingly Difficult
Hilltop CC is the course where I was first introduced to golf. Thus I thought all courses were like this one. Now that I've been around some more, I feel like I can shed some light on this course.
Hilltop is deceivingly difficult due to its narrow fairways, rolling hills, sticky traps, and thick rough. I love the course for its terrain but it will make you sorry if you slice off your drive. It requires accuracy over power. The greens have been unpredictable as of late because they've been changing how they press the greens.
It is $12 for 9 holes and I feel it is well worth the money. The pace is well controlled because the course doesn't get very busy. Your best bet for a quiet round will be at 8am any day of the week.
