About
Opened in 1929, Old Orchard Country Club has a classic design with challenges that stand up to modern golf courses. Throughout the course, you'll see traces of the site's former use as a farm. Ancient apple trees from the original orchard frame many of the holes. The diverse layout will test you with a variety of different shots but the gently rolling terrain makes for an easy walk. Skill and strategy will be generously rewarded but it's not an overly punishing layout for the high handicapper. Old Orchard's greens play true and fast and they are often flanked with strategically positioned bunkers. A stream wanders through the golf course, coming into play on several holes. Golfers will face a tricky island green on the par-5 seventh hole as well as an almost-island green on the par-4 13th.

Worst Course I've Ever Played
I am still in shock over the conditions of the course. Fairways, if you can call them that, were 1-3 inches high. Most of it was a combo of what appeared to be fescue and weeds. Some of the bunkers had mini boulders in them. The tee boxes were almost indistinguishable from the non-cut fairways.
I was scoring quite well but I quit after nine holes as the course provided no joy whatsoever. I went info the clubhouse before leaving and asked to speak to the GM, Mgr, etc. A gentlemen asked what was wrong and I emphasized the above and mentioned that at 67 years of age and playing for 55 years that this was the poorest conditioned course I have ever seen. He said he has never had any complaints and when I looked at reviews on Golf Now, Google, etc that is virtually all I saw. When I looked at him in disbelief, he said, "it's just a public course, we are not going to spend millions to fix it up." I said, you could at least mow the fairways. He said, "it's October." If you are a golfer of any stripe I urge you not to play here. DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY! STAY AWAY!
Have not cut grass in years
The grass in the fairway was so tall that perfect straight shots were lost every time. I lost maybe 15 balls bc of the tall grass. Was no difference between fairway and rough. Was like I was hitting out of the rough every shot. So bad

It is what it is!
Ok. the tee boxes aren't maintained and the greens and bunkers are crappy. However, the layout is very nice and finished in 3:30. Old Orchard won't be around much longer (as a golf course) and it may be the last year to play this former stately course.

Terrible Shape
Tee boxes were like hitting out of the rough.
Fairways were like the rough.
Sand traps were awful - filled with weed, not cared for at all.
Greens were in awful condition and extremely slow.
I was a member here years ago and it made me sad to see how they let this course erode to its current condition.
I will not be back.

Wow
This “course” and I use that term lightly is very sad to see. I thankfully got a Hot deal and did not pay full price. The tee boxes are crab grass and more grass no less than 3 inches tall. Fairways are non existent because they’re the same cut as the rough. The greens were probably cut last month. Super sad to see what was probably a great course in its heyday. Felt like a thriller movie pulling into the driveway. From the dilapidated lamp posts to the deserted parking lot to the singular rotting umbrella at the tables near the island green on hole 7. Not a soul in sight when I got there. Not nearly worth the $60 fees. Needs A LOT of work before it becomes a real golf course. Absolute shame to see

Not Worth It
This course is not worth the money at all, my lawn is maintained better than this course, I lost so many balls in the fairway because it is was as thick as the rough, and the greens were so thick the ball wpuld even stop short hitting down hill, terrible place to play

Worst course i’ve ever played
Good luck finding your ball! There was no fairway only rough, the greens were like putting on a carpet, the bunkers were awful.

I love the layout. Grass was cut early in the season . But now!! The tee box is the 1st cut leanght. They refuse to the the grass. I don’t understand why. And they want to charge premium prices. Crazy. Someone needs to buy and put 4 million into it. I play bc of hot deal and closeness. And the layout. It’s ashamed.

For $20 to Walk and Practice It’s OK
Played this course a decade ago and it was in decent to good shape. Ownership has clearly sold or is looking to sell the land because nothing is maintained.
Don’t come here with the mindset of playing a nice well-kept course. Come here with the mindset that for $20 to walk, you will be able to play casually and get some practice in on challenging conditions (not because the course layout is all that difficult but because even the fairway is the height of the rough).
I wouldn’t pay more than $20 to play here. The course is an easy walk even if carrying the bag, so skip the cart and cart fee.

The tee box and fairway were cut at the same length. The starter told us the owners sold the course to a developer and have not invested in the course all year.

Don’t Waste Your Time
This was the worst and most frustrating round of golf that I ever had. The condition of the course is terrible. The place has potential but it seems that no one cares enough to improve it.

Rough is ok fairway is to high Sand traps have weeds growing out if it green are terrible slow to hairy no chance to make putts

First and last time playing this course.. There were no fairways and the greens were horrible. It's a shame because the layout of the course is really nice but for some reason , management doesn't take care of it...

If you are that concerned as you say in your response to my email you would refund my fees or at least half of it as it was impossible to enjoy the course and I walked off after nine.
