Great course for great price!
First time playing this course and it was in amazing condition. Although there is minor construction near the clubhouse and first hole, overall conditions were very good, especially at the price point. For a county course the crew does an amazing job. Very fair layout and not too difficult. For a first timer, the holes were very clearly marked and made it. Easy to find my way around the course. I will definitely be back!
Not good
Terrible conditions
Not a good layout
My living room rug was faster than these greens.
I understand that the course may be under construction, but don’t charge $54 to walk a very poor conditioned course in the winter
I don’t think I’ll be back for a very long time
Hi. We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We understand your frustration with the construction projects underway. Please bear with us as we work diligently to make improvements. We hope you'll give us another try in the future.
If you have not played here you should. Great array of flat and hills. Some holes with water that is very in play and plenty without.
Some holes to score on and some where par is a good score.
It was my first time playing there and I will gladly return
The $16 per person rate for a golf cart is the biggest scam in all of golf cost more for the cart then golf. That being said golf course is beautiful nice layout alot of 400 yard par 4. But played front in 1hr 45 ranger was very noticeable but backn9 played in 2hr 45 no ranger whatsoever as we played 16 both sitting on #1 tee eating in a cart but meanwhile back 9 was jammed up. And why were there so many pin holes on the greens it's like you change them everyday it really messed up some putts making the ball bounce offline. Sand traps were in excellent shape.
Enjoyable
Lots of uphill lies and raised greens. Fairways in nice shape. Tee boxes coming back, looking good. Greens fast!
Great playing an old favorite that is now a county course,
Getting better.
Played after a few days of rain. Cart path only. Very wet. If you hit the green with your approach shot it would sink about halfway into the ground. That being said, the greens were in nice shape, but just a little slower than I am accustomed to. Fairways we're green and in good shape, a few intermittent brown spots from the summer drought. The rough was thick and lush, amazing what water can do for a golf course. The tee boxes can use a little more work, but they are trying to get them back, just need time. Good course layout, with challenging up hill and down hill holes. Overall a nice course to play, worth the trip. Played as a walking single in three hours. Foursome in front of me let me play through which was nice ...as all golfers should. Ranger and starter we present on the course. Good price on tee-off app.

Solid Public Course
I've been to Hopewell Valley three times in the last month and enjoyed it every time. The course was closed for two years while it transitioned from private to public and it is on my list of go-to County Owned courses in NJ. The Tee boxes could use some serious work, but their condition is purely cosmetic and doesn't affect gameplay. The fairways are in nice shape and the rough is solid and well maintained, especally for how dry it has been this summer. The greens are about what you can expect from a public course with this extreeme heat and dry conditions. So there are a few bumps, but they're overall playable and read pretty true. It's a pretty open course so you can recover from a missed tee shot and the bunkers are pretty soft so you can get a true shot out.
I highly reccomend for the average golfer.
Slow Play
I am not sure why this happened hbut played the front nine at a nice pace. The back nine was backed up and so slow I had to quit out of boredom

Wasps are a big problem
We played from the white tees but had to tee off from the red tee on 16 because the wasps were all over the tee box. We watched them go in and out of the ground. I have no idea what type of wasps they were or even if they are wasps. Some of the tee boxes were not in great shape. The greens were VERY slow. The course has a lot of potential and we will be back but I’m not sure if it will be this year since both Mercer Oaks and Mountain View are in better shape.
Thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. Please know the current conditions are by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We will continue to work towards a 5-star experience and we hope to see you back!
Course has promise - needs time for maintenance
Playing partner at Mercer Oaks said Hopewell was in decent shape - it is not (yet). Greens are in ok shape, just slow and inconsistent pace. Very odd that there is no fringe around the greens. Fairways have many thick patches and bald spots. The rough is really thick in some places, almost too long for the type of grass (very punishing). Worst tee boxes I’ve ever seen (bumpy, holes, missing grass). Could not hit off of 3 boxes due to swarming hornets (literally teed up my driver in the rough). And on 2 or 3 other holes, they had the red and gold tees set-up in the rough (not on a box). Layout is nice and walkable. Also, the range is not open yet. In maybe 2 years I would try it again once the County has some time. The course has promise.

Old Country Club course purchased by Mercer County. Definitely worth checking out.
Nice Surprise
Nice course, interesting layout. Read comments about long rough but it wasn’t as bad as expected. I was able to find balls no problem but it still makes for a shot you have to think about. Can’t wait to play it again.
Great Course
This is a gem with a beautiful but sometimes challenging layout - was in great shape as well
Promising
Greens were slow and bumpy and rough was a little high.
There was no second cut along the fairways or around the greens.
Pretty course - with possibilities.
Tee boxes need work - difference between blue and gold (senior) were often way to close together.

Get the greens cut and rolling.
Could be a gem if the greens were even average.
So far, they aren’t.
