Pine Brook Golf Course

I played a great round under great course conditions yesterday. The pace of play was great!

I would play at this golf course several times weekly. The course is always in good shape, and usually not overly busy. I don't really have many complaints about the course itself. Unfortunately, I can no longer tolerate the staff that works there. The staff is extremely unprofessional and unbelievably rude. I have observed staff yell at golfers, make rude comments, follow people around the golf course bothering them, and treating people with nothing but flat out disrespect. Every single staff member, with the exception of an older gentleman named Paul and one other gentlemen, is completely and totally rude and should really be ashamed of the way they treat paying customers. It is due to the staff that this golf course will no longer be getting my business, or anybody else that I golf with in the future.

This course looks short on the scorecard but I challenge people to try it once and you will be hooked. You will never shoot your handicap the first time you play it, green complexes have too many tricks to them. Every hole would be a fine hole if picked up and placed at a par 72 course, but since it is a par 61 people think it is easy but it is NOT. it is tree lined and tight and always in great condition. greens are better here than most of the regulation courses in the area. even when crowded the pace of play is always fine, never more than 3.5 hours even on a crowded holiday weekend.

If you want to play a quick (3 hour) round that is very walkable, this executive course fits the bill perfectly. Although I rated the course difficulty as Moderate, the greens are actually Very Challenging and in excellent condition. Note that this is a junior and senior friendly golf course and occasionally the play is a little slow ... but just ask to play through.

I've played this executive course every Sunday morning for the last two years, and it's an outstanding executive course. It's county owned, so don't expect anything fancy, but at the same time, at par 61, they manage to mix up the holes perfectly so it's never boring (1 par 5, 5 par 4's, 12 par 3's ranging from 92 to 190). The greens can be really tough (I still haven't figured out 14), and there's a number of threes that are really challenging (don't let the numbers on the cards fool you).

The best part is you can play this course, if you go early, in well under three hours. I don't mind running into beginners here because it's such a valuable place to work on irons and course management, stuff you can't do on a range, which is where most of the beginners think you have to work everything out. It's important to learn to use creativity and it really sharpens your short game.

This place features the rare junior tees (green, way up in the fairway), great for kids to learn on, and the six AM crowd is generally a bunch of decent guys. At well under $25 in the mornings and something like $18 in the afternoon, great value, fun course.
