Excellent greens
The course was short and tight as advertised, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the greens, which were smooth, fast and challenging.
knoll east
really good coarse first 3 holes tough then holes get tighter greens vg nice layout!!!!!!!!
An 18 hole muni for its price and condition? Sign me up
Was looking for a cheap round on Thursday night and stumbled upon Knoll Hills East. Booked a tee time for Friday 12:12 and finished at about 3:00. For a municipal course, I'd say the condition of the course was better than what I was expecting. Very tight course though (especially the front 9) but take some club speed off and you'll be alright. 9th hole elevation to green is a doozy. Enjoy!
Oh and it was the first day the driving range was open... really really nice in a pretty secluded area though. I would suggest having golf carts in the parking lot so people can drive them over (since you can't drive on the road) and also a water jug. The sun was right on us on a 90+ degree day and there is no where to hide. Great addition otherwise though!
Mechanical tees so you don't have to worry about bringing your own and hoping if they'll stick into the matt or not.
Great staff
Played here a handful of times. Greens were in fantastic shape. Definitely consider it one of the best public courses in the area. The staff is incredibly friendly and always make you feel welcomed. Recommended.
Good course - terrible Marshall
We went on Saturday to play a round - the Marshall was forcing us to pick up the pace when we were clearly waiting for the people ahead of us within striking distance, so much so we shot and came within inches of the group ahead of us. This went on for about 6 holes and then he proceeded to do the same to the group ahead of us.. The course was clearly overbooked and none of our faults. The staff inside though was great and really nice and I may come back because of them.
Interesting venue
There is nothing spectacular about Knoll East, but nothing very wrong, either. The greens are in good condition and deceptively fast. The fairways are a little long, but mowed and there are some problems with bare spots in the rough. The OB on hole #5 is strange because it makes it a very tight hole. On the other hand, my son blew it over the corner and had a sand wedge into the green. But he carried it 320 yards. All in all, a nice day of golf.
Muni Special
Just another older muni. short, a little tight, many bare and/or thin spots - in serious need of more irrigation in many areas. Only has drinking water on 1 hole - it was rough on a hot day.
Good pace
Booked a hot deal and had an enjoyable round, once the group in front cleared the first hole I never had to wait to tee off. Greens were starting to grow in after the aeration, but still bumpy on the putts. Staff was friendly. I will go back again soon.
Knoll East 3/17
I selected this course after reading the other reviews. Arriving I noticed less than 15 cars in the parking lot on this spring day. The friendly staff allowed me to go out right away (obviously the course was wide open). The fairways are narrow and it's a great opportunity to use your irons. I did notice the safety netting throughout the course to protect other golfers from errant shots. The course is not long (most par 4's ~300yds) not many sand traps but an occasional meandering, unseen stream on a few holes. I'm sure on a busy summer day with high handicap golfers this may not be as enjoyable as it was today. As of today there was only 1 par 3 using a temporary green, ball washers were not in place and water not available on course. There was a grill and snack stand in operation outside the pro shop.
