Blue herron
One of the best public courses in rochester. Challenging course for all golfers. Very well maintained and in good condition.
Great course
Hidden gem, very challenging, but very rewarding if you hit good golf shots. Definitely makes you play chess on the golf course
Good value
Played course first time. Used rental clubs which were old and tired but at least they only charged us $15 per set.
Course layout and condition of fairways and greens was good.
Paths are in need of repair however.
We got a good value deal on Golf Now so overall we were happy and would recommend.
Disappointing
Although it had rained, the previous day the grass had not been cut, the fairways were not too wet and the sand traps were in poor condition. . We were disappointed it did not resemble the past country club conditions. It was not interesting, they did not have a starter, the pro shop was not too helpful nor polite and there were very few people playing that day. We would not return; it was not worth the drive from Buffalo.
Not really up to par
Their lawn cutting service and Sandtrap maintenance had not been done. Some of the fairways were also quite wet. There were all kinds of open teetimes the day we played and the man in the pro shop was not overly friendly. There wasn’t a starter. It was kind of like are they really open today.?
Nice course, well taken care of
The course is beautiful and fun to play. Very well laid out and has enough challenge for every type of player.
Only complaint is the stone cart paths are rutted up pretty good and fill of potholes. They're even more evident since we got so much rain overnight.
Great conditions
I had not played Blue Heron Hills in probably 15 years or more and enjoyed the growth of trees and the overall condition of the golf course. The greens were smooth and putted very true. The fairways and the tees were excellent. There were a few sand traps with some stones in them but overall were in good shape. I remember all of the water features which make the course very challenging. Definitely a course worth playing if you have not done so recently.
Great course for price
My wife and I played course. It was our 1st time. Course.was in great shape. Staff was very helpful.. We had great time. Course could be a little better marked. Course is not especially difficult. But it is well laid out and quite scenic. Blue herons add to the natural character of the course.
Nice Track
Nice layout and course condition. I was able to get the first tee time on a Friday morning and it seemed as though I was battling the ground crew as much as the course. A flag wasn’t replaced on one hole, waiting for sprinklers on the tee box, and even having the sprinklers turn on me while on the 18th fairway.
A challenging track
You are rewarded for accuracy. Greens are large but some fairways narrow. Well maintained. will play again.
On of the better courses in the area
I first discovered Blue Heron a few years ago, looking to branch out to some of the newer courses when visiting my in-laws. The course had just gone from private to semi-private and I could not be happier with the cost-per-play. The staff is friendly and if you're willing to travel a few extra minutes off away from the highways, the value is right up there with Ravenwood or Greystone (both public). Since there is a considerable amount of water hazards on each hole, when it rains, you can expect some spongy conditions. As was the case during my round, it was certainly drained well given how much it rained the days prior. All in all, I would recommend this course to any one that does not have access to the private clubs but looking for something better. My only two suggestions to the course would be to consider adding GPS for those looking for the convenience and also consider re-doing the yardages (at least on a number of the holes vs. the scorecard). Having a few lazy moments, I would go by scorecard yardage rather than walk to the tee, guage from the BH plate in the ground and then retrieve my club. This resulted in me tee-ing off with a club with a 30-yard difference in mind
