Designed by renowned golf architect Frank Duane, Rock Hill Golf and Country Club, on Long Island, is a challenging and somewhat hilly course that plays longer than most courses on Long Island. Opening in 1965, the 18-hole golf course is always impeccably manicured and offers golfers challenging and exciting holes. There are a few water hazards and plenty of trees lining the fairways and several undulating greens that make putting interesting. Rock Hill is open every day, year round.

Slow every time

Today we teed off at 8:40 and we ended up walking off the course after 15 holes. We saw the Ranger one time and we explained that there was a hold up ahead of us and he said he would address it. We left the course after just four hours and playing 15 holes. The last two holes took us 40 minutes to play so it likely would’ve been a five hour round. It’s been playing slowly all summer long and unfortunately I don’t think I will be coming back again soon.

Nice for a friendly round

1. staff friendly
2. had real grass practice area, very good $5 for 45 ball great
3. course somehow challenging, with slopes and small green
had to hit and make shape shots
4. not excellant condition, sort of natural .........
but with $65 include cart and green fee , cant ask for me
5. a little far to Suffolk but couple of nearby courses , not too cheap
6. may be early season, not crowded at restaurant but believe can be better

Different Long Island Course. Same Story.

It is mid April and yet another gem on Long Island is struggling to get back into shape after a long harsh winter. Rock Hill in Manorville showed signs of winter damage around the edges of greens and the rough. But, like other high quality public accessible courses on this rock, the maintenance crew is trying to turn it around. In a month it will be beautiful again.
If you live near Manorville the best value is the range plan. For 7 months all the range time you need on grass, not a mat, for $200.

Rock Hill

Greens are in okay shape. There not there yet. Couple of weeks and it will be there. Very hilly and challenging pin placements. Its wide open fairways and long par 4s and 5s. The staff is great!

Love this course

This course is seriously a hidden gem out east. I’ve played the course a few times and each time I like it even more. The course is always in great condition and unlike many courses on Long Island, the greens actually aren’t flat. I prefer the back 9 over the front. The front has some nice holes like the downhill par 5 second hole and a few nice short par 4s. This course gets fun on the back. The 10th is a 400+ par 4 that’s down hill and the 18th is a long tester to finish. There’s two short par 4s that should be birdie holes on the back. All in all one of my favorites just wish they opened up more earlier times for non members

Great for outings

This review is somewhat skewed because I played the course during a Fire Dept tournament but nonetheless the course is in great condition, great variety of holes and also take note that new white tees were added at 6000 yds which isn't indicated anywhere on the internet. This course seems like it would be a bear at 6400 plus for a bogey golfer (21 hdcp here) but at just over 6000 it's just right. Greens are a nice medium speed and the fairways are wide enough to accommodate some wayward shots but the front nine has enough trees to keep you in check. Facility is lovely and the food is amazing. Can't speak to how it runs on a normal weekend but def worth checking out.
