Fun course, good value
Eight short to medium par 3’s with a challenging par 4 on the last hole. Good value if you’re looking to work on your short game
Good course to learn to play (on)
Island Lake is an executive 9 (with one par 4). It is a good choice for beginner golfers.
The course was in good shape today. The greens are slower than some local courses, but this again better for the beginner. There are some water hazards but mostly behind the greens or you can navigate around those that are in play. We took a new golfer ... who had a good experience.
Staff is friendly and everything is organized well. There is also a nice driving range.
Good warm up, and great for kids.
This is a great little track to practice approach shots. It’s also a great first course for kids to learn the game.
Nice affordable par 3 course
Pace of play was better than expected well maintained. Great course for honing your short game.
Decent Executive Course
Good condition; probably not worth the money though for an Executive Course.
Fall Golf
Love playing this course. Great to practice the short game. The trees were beautiful and the course is well maintained.
Great value for irons play
The course is in really nice shape. Well watered and maintained. Great place to work on my short game!
Fun Course, Great for Short Game
This is a really nice course for beginners and more experienced golfers to practice the short game. I've played this course half a dozen times and still enjoy it. As a beginner it is just right for me to play and have success. My husband enjoys practicing his short game.
A good wedge tune up
This is by far the best par 3 course in the metro area, in my opinion. The course is well taken care of and looks wonderful. The clubhouse is nothing special and the range is somewhat packed together but their assortment of things to aim for is pretty fun. Practice green is nice. Some water on this course which provides a little challenge. I have walked every time, no real need to take a cart. Greens were a little slow but that could have just been the day. They have a little area where you can get food but it didn't even look like it was in service. There was also a lot of stuff laying around in the clubhouse. Boxes and such. I try not to be too hard on it though since it is a par 3 course. Pace is alright, short holes means waiting some times. It is close to a freeway so you will hear road noise. You won't swing anything longer than a 7 iron so take note. I like it to sharpen my wedges and short irons.
Nice Short Course
Really like this nice short course. It is perfect for a new golfer like me. The holes are challenging enough to keep my interest and provide me success as well. The 9th hole is the most difficult but fun! Nice driving range too!
Great course for beginners and young ones
Island Lake is a great course for working on your short game for people who golf a lot. It is also a great place for kids to be introduced to the game. The set up is challenging enough for regular players while it offers great opportunities for beginners, and kids to have a safe introduction to the game.
Decent Place
I have hit range balls here quite often. Decent Club House. Nice Range with mats to hit off as well as targets in play.
Course was ok. Incredibly short yardage. Most of the par 3's are at or close to 100 yards. A couple of 150 yard holes and the final hole comes in at just over 250 yards.
Greens were in good shape.
Pace of play stunk as 2 guys held up multiple groups.
Paid $8 for round so I can't complain.
Nice 9-hole course
If you're looking to work on your approach shots with nice, short par 3 holes, this course is for you. Additionally, I was very impressed with the condition of the smooth greens. The staff was also friendly, and the driving range had cool targets and funnels to hit at. I'll definitely be going back there.
Great value
We were on the 9th tee along with 2 other groups waiting for an extremely slow foursome. My only complaint would be that there is no one monitoring pace of play.
Funshortcoyrse
A perfect course for youths and beginners. Wide open and not much trouble. Course was in great shape really enjoyed my round.
Par 3 course built for Beginners.
You shouldn't need any more club than a 9 iron (9i, PW, Putter). The course is very forgiving and shorter then the posted yardage markers.
Hole 8 - Tree obstacle requires a draw; otherwise, you'll miss the green (...don't miss left!).
Hole 9 - It's listed as a Par 4 and is definitely a risk/reward tee shot (as the fairway narrows to roughly 10 yards between two ponds before the green).
*Smarter play is a 150-175 yard tee shot and 50 yard wedge.
Definitely a great course if your focus is on improving short iron play.
Pace of Play = painful
Tee time as at 10:45, we didn't tee off until 11:10. In addition, I reserved a tee time for two ppl and the course added a group of three to our group. With tee times being 8 minutes apart, its difficult for a group of 5 to finish a hole in 8 minutes. The course shouldn't be putting groups of more than 4 together, and should probably move tee times to 10 minutes apart instead of 8.
Next, the group in front of us was painfully slow. We would consistently wait 5 minutes to tee off in between holes. The group in front of us contained a 7 year old kid and a woman who whiffed the ball almost every time. If you're that bad you should probably pick your ball up after a few tries and move on to the next hole.
Overall though the course was pretty nice, I would like to play again if I knew it wouldn't be crowded.
