Wet as usual.
Although there has been a lot of digging of ponds lately, there seems to be a disconnect with where the drains would do the most good. At least we weren't inundated with mosquitoes. The sand is terrible, no raking on any one trap. The cart paths need attention before they're lost. Worth the price, however not any more.
no pushing this am
very good time. foursome let us by and we had no one in front.
Very Enjoyable
I enjoyed Braemar once again as this was my second time playing it. Some of the reviews seem to be very harsh, but perhaps I don't have as high of standards! The fairways were in good shape and certainly distinctive from the rough. The greens were in great shape and rolled true. The holes are a good mix of long and short, narrow and wide, and some doglegs as well. My only complaint were the tee boxes- many were very torn up so it was difficult to feel confident in your footing. Also some were slightly slanted or mounded which is frustrating on a tee shot. I think it's a great course and look forward to playing it again with my sons when I come back and visit family in the Rochester area.
Great round at Braemar as always! Love the course and unbeatable price.
good course for average golfers
Nice layout with some challenging holes. Avoid league times for faster play.. Easy to get around this course. Good value.
Really a sad place
This course was a disaster. The staff is extremely rude, even the owner. The course is beat. Greens were missing large patches of grass, fairways were indistinguishable from rough. Tee boxes were torn up. 1/5 is too generous, I give this course a 1/10. Worst course I have ever played on, no exaggeration.
Poor Course Communication
Got there 15 min prior to tee time and that's when they informed us they weren't allowing carts on the course. No email, text or phone call...one hour wasted driving to and fro.
Terrible
This was, by far, the worst condition a golf course could ever be in.If they said i could play there for free ,i wouldn't waste the gas money.Fairways are torn up,dried out ..like hitting a golf ball off a parking lot with potholes.Putting greens in terrible conditions, and then on hole 15..a dump truck and workers with a chain saw.Dont waste your money.DONT PLAY THERE!
A real review for avid golfers
This course is by far the worst course in the Rochester area. I have no clue how people can give it 4 starts let alone 2 . I went to this course in March of 2016 and the course was a mess which I didn't mind because it was really early into the season. However I went back 6 months later thinking that it would have improved but I was wrong, course was still a complete mess, layout sucks unless you like courses that are completely flat and just a mess. It seemed that they made absolutely no progress on the course changes they were doing 6 months ago.. Fairways were hard as rock, it was like hitting off dirt.....overall this course is just a complete mess and it has always been mess.. I do not dislike any of the employees or owners either....this is just my honest opinion about this course .
Summer Round at Braemar
Course has great potential, staff is awesome, value good, patio awesome, etc. but course STILL in disarray....how bout finishing one project b4 starting another and buying a weed-wacker or 2?? Need some ventilation on #2 green!
Disappointing
Having not played here in a few years I decided to use the GolfNow deal to try it again with some friends. Although the staff was friendly enough and the price was right a few things didn't seem "right". First off , I have never been on a course that had the sprinklers on while golfers were on the course playing. Had to time your set-up and swing to when the water wasn't being showered on you. Add to that the water that accumulated on some of the greens; making putts impossible from certain areas and other areas looking dug up and under repair and it made for a uncomfortable and certainly unaesthetically pleasing round of golf. Although I shot one of my better scores of the season , we all agreed we would not be in any hurry to play here again. Sorry
Upgrades are taking shape
Out of any course Ive golfed Ive golfed here the most and theres a reason to it. The course is good for both beginners and pros. Theyve recently put a decent amount of money into the course and continue to do so upgrading drainage ponds, building a new finishing tee box, a completely new clubhouse and restaurant which blows the original one away and is one of the best in the area. As all courses in rochester right now this one is a little dry but theyve done well to maintain critical areas like the tees greens and approach shots which is better for this course as it can be disease prone in very wet seasons hence the new drainage ponds. Staff is very friendly and not at all uptight like some places can be. Ive made Braemar my home course since I started golfing and dont plan on having that change anytime soon especially with the work being put in on it. A typical rd is about 3.5 hrs Ive done in under 3 with a friend many times but can vary especially if you get behind an inconsiderate group which they need to monitor a little better... my only knock on the course
Great place
Price great people great course challenging
Good time!
Great bargain
I am a 13 handicap. Having played this course many times over the years I have seen its ups and downs. Right now it is in very good shape considering the drought we have been experiencing. Braemar tends to not drain well, so the dry weather has probably helped them more than other area courses. This course has a nice balance of challenge and forgiveness. Also i played by myself and finished in 2 1/4 hours , though im sure this was an anomaly.
braemar cc
Our foresome discovered this course recently and find it to be a good value. Greens are pretty fast but roll true. Course has several tough holes on the front side. We found it to be well worth the price.
Foursome leagues at 10:30 weekdays?
Course is looking a little better over the last two years, but are we done working on the drainage ponds any time soon? Also: quite ridiculous to have a mid-morning men's league of foursomes where even though of retirement age and carrying handicaps of 30+, we never pick up when out of a hole and we don't allow gimmees?? The longest round I have played in over five years, and on one of the shortest/easiest courses we opt to play.
Some nice challenges
A rustic mature treed course. There is some excavating going on which appears related to retaining ponds / drainage but does not affect play. Greens in excellent condition. A great value!
