Challenging, fairways need some attention
THE GOOD: The greens were in great shape given the weather Durham has had. Greens were fast, well maintained, and had difficult pin locations making the short game the most challenging part of the round. The fairways were wide and forgiving.
THE NOT SO GOOD: IN a number of places throughout the course, sections of grass on the fairways were gone. Instead of hitting off of grass you were shooting off hard, packed dirt and tree roots.
OVERALL: I will certainly go back and really enjoyed the course. I'll be curious to hear if/when the fairways will receive a little TLC but other than that it was an excellent round.
Qued play.
I guess there were so many players and teams, so we had to wait so many times before teams ahead of us finished their plays.
Que mgmt needs to be addressed.
Fun time
Greens looked good , course was a little wet from all the rain as of late , 90 degree rule but that was expected. Overall had a lot of fun course played well
Not happy to pay $31.00 for winter playing conditions
I won"t pay $31.00 again till everything is green. I'm new to Raleigh, Trying to find some course's to visit, but I have payed only $14.00-$20.00 for what we played at your course.
Go to Columbus Ohio to play. Look them up on GolfNow.
Yes i want two free rounds.
Quirky Layout
Fun little course.... plays 5,800 yds from back tees but it plays longer. Have to allow for sloping fairways and elevated greens. Greens were in very good condition for winter but fairways were dormant, matted Bermuda....Par 3's are real challenging from back tees.
Good course for a quick 18 in the RTP area but it can get slow in summer with league play.
Course was wet
This course was like playing in a marsh. The whole course was really wet and not playable. We played 7 hole and called it quits. Must go back and play when not so wet. The driving range was unusual. You drive into the lake!
Sorry the course was so wet when you came out. We have had an abnormal amount of rain this winter. Once things dry up, please call the golf shop and ask for Chip. I will do my best to help out with the cost of your return visit to Lakeshore. Thanks for your business.
Great layout and great value
Great value for beginners or weekend golfers. Greens are in good condition and the staff is always helpful.
awesome
Thank you it was a great round with friends on a fun course
Great course and value!
Lakeshore was a delight to play. Fairways were friendly and well maintained for good lies. Greens were in great shape. Course was challenging but not so difficult for the average golfer. The only negative thing I have is that the pro shop is far removed from the turn. Still, I will play this course again and again as I'm in the Durham area.
Not great but a nice course
Worth playing, not worth writing home about. Good pace of play for Saturday morning.
Tidy Tight Course
Nothing really to go nuts about here. Course is in pretty good shape for the time of year. Front nine is far more open than the back. Gets very tight on the back nine. Still, some holes have some real character. Water does come into play a bit. I zipped through the round in less than 3 hours on a Friday morning. Nothing special here, but if you're just looking to get out for a quick round, this is a place to look at.
This course is shorter thaan the average couse but you can get into trouble if you don't pay attention
This is a great course for a leisure round of golf. It has a great deal of character and requires good shot making.
Course has some character
Greens were 50/50. Some in great condition. Some need some work to remove weeds. Its a short course but some of the shorter holes are challenging enough for a golfer that shoots in the low 90's. We had a fantastic time.
Condition
Played here twice and both times the greens were super slow and thick. The ball rolled poorly and it was difficult to make a putt outside of six feet. Don't pay full price for this overpriced course.
Very affordable and in good condition.
Friendly staff and in good condition for a fairly small family owned course. A great way to get in a quick 18 ( about 3 hours and 20 minutes ) at a very reasonable fee. Greens were slow but very consistent with few thin areas, sand in traps & bunkers was recently renewed. Overall a nice shortish track.
Goat Track
My friend and I like to play different courses so we often go on GolfNow and find a "hot deal now" that is an hour or so drive away from us. Even though the hot deal for this course was only 20 bucks, I feel like I over paid. The fairways were terrible and the greens weren't much better. The course is extremely short and doesn't look like its been maintained for a good time now. You can spend your 20 bucks better on a different course
Nice course
It's nice course. But distance is little bit short, even at blue tee. Grasses are well managed and staff is very friendly. In average, it's the fact that the course is good for me with hot deal price. I enjoyed and will enjoy this course.
Great course! Friendly laid back staff
Great course for the cost. Has some challenging holes along with some easy ones. Staff is super friendly. Located next to RTP so it's easy to get in 18 after work
Good not great...
I think this course is great for you average duffers who are looking for a track that will suit them well.
Pros:
-Pace of play was fair
-All greens had consistent pace
-Few holes you need to work the ball on
Cons:
-Alot of crab grass is patched on course
-Very easy track for sub 10 handicappers
I feel this course like many in this area has been bitten by the "were not used to this much rain" bug and feel they will get the conditions back.
Sorry you didn't enjoy your round. The bermuda grass will begin to come out of it's dormant state when the night time temps are above 50 degrees. It is taking much longer this year b/c of the unseasonably cold and wet winter. Please give me a call at the course so we can discuss your future round at Lakeshore.
919-596-2401 ask for Chip. Thanks.
