About
Aston Oaks Golf Club is perched atop rolling hills that overlook the Ohio River Valley. The Jack Nicklaus Design Group created the course, which sits on the former land of President William Henry Harrison. Although his presidency was short lived, traces of his legacy in Ohio can be seen throughout the golf course. Each hole was carefully carved from stands of mature white oak, hickory, and other native hardwoods. The course is tight and demanding with fast greens and plenty of elevation changes. The abundance of trees really characterizes the course. Between the 10th tee and the 11th green, there is a giant Buckeye tree that is the largest in the state. With all of the trees lining the fairways there was hardly a need to add bunkers, but there are some incorporated along the greensides that help to define some holes.

Great course and staff!
I am fortunate to play ASTON OAKS several times a month. Without a doubt one of the TOP public courses in the Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky area. Ownership makes improvements yearly and once again in 2024, improving carts paths and several holes! Playing conditions are excellent for this time of the year, if you don't mind a few fairways and tee boxes that are still dormant because of zoysia grass. My guess is that by May they will be already greening up and the course will be picture perfect!
Always enjoy the challenge and never get tired of playing one of Cincinnati's finest golf courses.
Make tee times in advance, they are ALWAYS BUSY!

Course should be closed until restorations are completed
Don’t waste your time or money until they are done with the restorations. Too many condition issues to mention. Playing from the middle of the fairway off of dirt is ridiculous. I have love playing this course in the past 20 years until yesterday. Very disappointed on a special day. I won’t be back until I verify verbally the conditions have been rectified.
It is obvious Jberanek that you don't understand what dirt and zoysia grass looks like?
They only have 4 fairways with Zoysia (which is dormant from November thru April), because it is a warm season grass. I played there last week and the course was in great shape!
I have no idea what you are talking about. The only thing brown were the zoysia tees and fairways, and yet they are still very playable!
Why slam a beautiful golf course when it is obvious you don't understand turf varieties of grass. By the way....the zoysia is already turning green! I think you owe an apology!
Just played this course …Overall golf course conditions are great !! Don’t let this untruthful opinion and harsh review discourage you from playing one of the best public courses on the west side of Cincinnati. How can you complain about a course making major improvements over the winter ! And being uninformed about types of grass and growing conditions. Drain tile projects to improve playing conditions on the holes mentioned have GPS messages apologizing for the work in progress. And plugged balls should be expected for March ! I challenge other golfers to write honest reviews about overall conditions of a course, not just based on 2/3 out of 18 holes. You can discourage others from playing a great course.
Good conditions for March but terribly slow
Conditions overall about as good as could be for beginning of March. Pace of play was awful though- 5 hours and change. Could see 4 groups at one point on the back, one on the green, one waiting to hit approach, one waiting to hit 2d, one on the tee, and we drove up…to wait. Clearly needed someone from the course to move that first group. Pace got slower each hole and we waited on every tee box. Will be back in the summer because it is a nice course and I’d like to see it in season, but hope for a reasonable pace of play!

Golfing in February!
The course is nice but it is February and wet. I can’t blame the course for how I played. I will definitely go back when it’s a little warmer.

One the best course in Cincinnati
Every time I visit the course, I feel the wonderful staff's careful consideration for the customers makes me so comfortable to play there. The course is maintained so well that even in winter, we have no problem playing there. Highly recommendable A+++++++++++++++++.

Added disappointment for course conditions
I wish I video proof but there must be a spring underneath the 18th fairway. There were balls plugged all over the place in the fairway, very unplayable. The 16th Fairway, in the middle of the fairway is just dirt. They are doing reconstruction on the 11th hole just for heads up it would’ve been nice to know that they had no grass on most of the fairways. Ruined a special occasion. I definitely would’ve gone somewhere else if I had known in the condition of the course. I have played this course many times over the 25 years and enjoyed it immensely in the past unfortunately right now it is in very poor condition

The fairways you mentioned feature Zoysia grass, which transitions from dormant to vibrant green in the spring. We're pleased to report that they have recently turned green and are now actively growing. Additionally, the updates to our cart path and bunker on the 11th hole are part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the course. These areas are clearly marked for your convenience and safety while the new sod establishes. We take pride in our course maintenance and improvements, often carried out in the quieter winter months to minimize disruption. Our goal is to provide an enjoyable and high-quality experience year-round.
Great layout!
Love the course layout, but tee boxes and greens were in rough shape. I also understand that it is off season and December. I’m sure they will work on them before next golf season. I look forward to playing here again in the middle of the golf season to compare the course to how it looked and played in December.

Wonderful and nice course near Ohio river
Even in the winter season, the course has been managed very well without seeing fallen leaves in the fairway and green. Very kind staff's greeting message make you very comfortable to play there.

Slow, slow, and slower
5 hours and 45 min round, following what I was told three groups of 4… off the tee on 13, you could see two full holes open and these groups waiting for the group in front to clear the green… an 11:54 tee time finished at dark, while groups behind us just stopped and headed for the clubhouse.

Gorgeous course
Course was fun to play. I am high handicap & huband a16 & he felt it was difficult on back. Losing a few places of grass, but not bad. The ruff is deep & thick!
