Great greens, fairways, and tee boxes. Pristine condition. Wide fairways help avoid trouble. I’ll be back when in Orlando again.
Meadow Oaks Golf & Country Club
Played On 09/29/2019Meadow Oaks.....9-29-2019
I have played this course many times in the past and have yet to be disappointed. Played as a twosome in front of a league and was not pushed the entire round. Only slow time was when we caught a twosome of young men playing from the back tees with no game to be there. Always in good condition Meadow Oaks is fairly short in length so I can reach the par fives in two if I hit a decent drive (which is fun). Greens are pretty good, sand in the bunkers is good as well. Just a couple of tee boxes were a bit beat up. If you're a low handicap big hitter then you probably need more a challenge than this course can provide but for 90% of golfers this a great place for a fun round. Definitely be back as it is one of my regular courses to play. FYI, there is no range if that is important to you.

Got a great price on a Hot Deal from Golfnow.com I've played there many times previously. It was a very hot day and played near noon. Very few folks on the course so pace was awesome. Always enjoy my round at this course.
I did not see any warnings online that they had just punched the greens so we instituted a 2 putt max because their condition. The only big complaint I have is the condition of the sand traps. Very little sand in them and many have grass/weeds growing in them. Also any ball that misses the fairway needs some time finding due to the thickness of the rough. I'll back after the greens heal some.
Plantation Palms Golf Club
Played On 10/27/2018Plantation Palms - 10/27/2018
I've played this course many time but our area had a rainy summer and this course does not drain well. I played when it was cart path only and that was enough for me to let this place dry out before returning. Well it is dry and they recently added sand to all the greenside traps. Greens are in good shape but a little slower than what I'm used to. Real nice layout and is long when played from the blue tees. Overall a fine day just wished I had not doubled the 18th to shoot 81. Will play regularly again for the next few months for sure.
Silverthorn Country Club
Played On 10/13/2018Great value but needs a little extra effort
Played on a perfectly sunny day and was paired with folks by the starter and enjoyed the round. I've played Sliverthorn many in the past two years. Today i found that the greens were a bit bumpy with a number of unrepaired ball marks. Tee boxes were a bit thin as well. Fairways and rough was in good shape. Sand traps and bunkers obviously have been ignored. When grass is growing in them they have not been attended to in a while. They were mostly in need of more sand and need to raked on a regular basis. Staff was cheerful and polite.
Silver Dollar Golf & Trap Club - Panther/Bobcat Course
Played On 09/04/2018Silver Dollar Golf Club
First time playing this course. It has 27 holes but nine for the gator was not open today I played the panther to the Bobcat. Played from the blue tees, it has decent length around 6200 yards. I believe due to the extensive rainfall the area has experienced I found the rough to be a little high so any ball that traveled off the fairway took some time to locate. The greens while not fast were in very nice condition and rolled true. Check in guy was polite and friendly but the rangers were a bit cranky for no reason. Lighten up or find a job where you don’t deal with the paying public. Course is fairly open with some lakes come into play. I definitely will be back, a good value.
Timber Greens Country Club
Played On 07/21/2018Nice course but ranger needs some tact
Timber Greens is a nice course in great shape. No complaints with the course or conditions.
I did encounter a ranger who was what I would call 'ill-mannered", severely lacking social interaction skills. At Pro shop I was told i would be playing with 3 others but they had not checked in. Guy in Pro Shop says go load up and putt some on the practice green until they arrive, which I did. I notice 3 guys teeing off in 2 carts at my tee time. I asked what their time was and it was mine as well so we made it a foursome. On the third hole tee box a "ranger" pulled up and asked me sternly "Explain why you have 3 carts?" Only 2 carts are allowed per hole per Mr. Ranger. If the course had a starter maybe they would have sent us in 2 but here we are in 3 carts and he makes it out like it's a felony. So I volunteered to just play by myself. Mr. Ranger then drove 100 yards away and watched to make sure we split up. Played by myself until ironically a twosome rescued my battery dying cart on 17 tee and pushed my cart (#9) up the hill after the tunnel. This review would have been 5 Stars had it not been for some guy who obviously was enjoying a little power trip. Lighten up buddy the course was practically empty. At this time I'm not sure I'll return as there are many other courses in the area where the staff is friendly and courteous.

Saw this course on Golfnow.com and booked a Hot Deal. First time playing this course (6 miles from my house) and I don't know how I missed this golf club in the past. The who golf course shows pride by the staff in it's maintenance. Greens were very nice, fairways nice. No complaints. It is not a long track and was a pleasure to play. i pulled my driver on 1 par five otherwise my three wood was plenty of length to be in position to hit the green. Well worth playing you won't be disappointed..
Seven Hills Golfers Club
Played On 06/23/2018Seven Hills Golfers Club
I have played this course several times in the last couple of years but not in maybe the last six months. I got a great "Hot Deal" from Golfnow.com. I arrived on a very hot Saturday around noon and the parking lot was almost empty. I checked in, got my cart and headed out to the first tee. The carts are newer Yamaha golf carts but are gas and I enjoy the more quietness of electric carts. I guess because of the recent rains they seemed to be behind in the course mowing as the fairways were rather tall and hard to find your ball even when you hit down the middle. Half the greens are in bad shape, and the traps have a lot of weeds so they've been neglected too. Very disappointing to see such a nice little layout receive so little attention. Carts paths are bumpy rough, bunkers are weed overgrown with little amounts of sand. The owners obviously are struggling but when a course gets this bad people find other places to play. The only good thing I can say is that after a 42 on the front I birdied 4 in a row on the back nine and shot a 34; absolutely hit several stiff at the flag and just missed a 5th in a row on 16. If you're new to the game and want to play cheaply this is a good place. If you've been playing a while you'll be very sorry you played at Seven Hills (in it's current pitiful condition). I won't be back until I read better comments. You'd think with all the nice homes that line the course that they would support it better financially. If it goes under so will their property values.
Plantation Palms Golf Club
Played On 06/02/2018CART PATH ONLY
Lot of rain this week and Plantation Palms shows it. Was told it was CART PATH ONLY while on the third hole. Front fairways were NOT recently mowed but greens were cut but were choppy and balls wobbled near the hole. I’m not a young man so that was much more walking than I expected in the Floida afternoon heat. I will check with the pro shop before playing in the conditions again. Staff is always courteous and friendly. Beverage cart girl worked hard and made several laps of the course. I generally enjoy playing Plantation Palms but today was not as delightful as expected.

Book a great Hot Deal on GolfNow.com. I always book on this site at least once a week and used this service many, many times. In my booking history I've had two issues upon arrival at any golf course; strangely both times occured at Silverthorn. I had to call the VIP number at GolfNow to get them to verify i in fact had 'paid" for my tee time as Randy at the pro shop stated i did not appear on their tee sheet. Once i got through this hassle it was a fine day of golf. The course is in good shape and is not a long layout. ( I use my 3 wood off most Par 4's.) I just hope my next visit to Silverthorn will come with less frustration.
Brooksville Country Club
Played On 05/19/2018Brooksville Country Club
Played this course many times and wished I lived closer so I could play there more often. Only negative was the upper tee box on #13 was closed. That’s my favorite shot hitting off the top of the quary. Greens rolled true, overall fun experience as usual.
Sherman Hills Golf Club
Played On 04/07/2018Sherman Hills
This is one of the courses that I wish was closer to my home. I always enjoy playing at this well cared for course. The girl that checked me in was very nice. The greens are in very nice shape but were just a bit slower than what I'm used to but rolled true. Not a long course from the blue tees is has some elevation change on the front nine while the back nine plays more in wooded setting. This my forth time playing and look forward to returning to Sherman Hills soon. I highly recommend booking a tee time today.
Cheval Golf and Athletic Club
Played On 03/24/2018First time at Cheval Golf Club
Cheval Golf Club recently appeared on available courses that i could book a tee time with. I got a great price so I booked through Golfnow.com. The course is in a gated community of fine homes so I assumed I would see houses lining every hole. Certainly not the case as the course had a nice wooded feel to it. On one hole a family of four deer ran across the cart path in front of my cart. The greens were in very nice shape although two or three have some damaged areas that are being repaired. The rough is mowed tightly so it is not much of a penalty when a shot misses the fairway. There are a lot of doglegs that are pretty much blocked from cutting corners by mature tall trees. The majority of the doglegs seem left to right which, as i draw the ball, is more challenging for me. As with most Tampa area courses this time of year it would benefit from a few good rain showers but you get a ton of run out right now because of the dryness. They had a on-course beverage cart that I saw several times. I look forward to returning in the near future.
Plantation Palms Golf Club
Played On 01/13/2018FIRST ROUND BUT NOT THE LAST.
I guess this course was closed for a while and reopened last year. I was wanting to play and the reviews are trending upward so i saw a great price and decided to finally give Paradise Palms a go. I sadly picked a very windy, cold day to play.
LIKES: I liked that you start on a par five. the whole course has cement cart paths which is nice. Greens putted fair, the fairways have been overseeded and were also very playable. This course is not a short course plays 6000 from the white tees which requires a little more length off the tees than many area courses. I shot an 84 and did not pull my driver. Nice layout overall.
NOT SO MUCH: They still need to improve the traps and bunkers on many of the holes with more/better sand. Grass growing back in completely will take a little more time but is ongoing.
I look forward to playing this course again on a sunny warm day (soon)!
Huntington Hills Golf & Country Club
Played On 12/16/2017Worth the ride.
Saw this on a Hot Deal and drove over 50 miles to play Huntington Hills. I was not disappointed, nice layout. Big Greens that roll true. Traps and bunkers have new sand. 16,17,18 finish with short par 4s. Played from blue tees and did not pull my driver the whole round. I plan to return after Christmas.
i'm glad you enjoyed your round, thanks for coming over from Port Richey.

Got a super Hot Deal in played on a very windy , wet and cold afternoon. Starter paired me with 3 others and we all enjoyed the round. Course is in decent shape but it’s not Augusta either. Greens were slow but true. Our group teed off at 12:57 and were the last group on the course that day. Only negative was when an employee met us on 16th green and was picking up the flagsticks. We had no idea where the hole was on 17 & 18 until we went ahead to see. Who takes the flags in with golfers on the course?

Got a tremendous Hot Deal price and came as a single but was paired 3 other fellows and had a very enjoyable morning of golf. Course was in better condition that the last time I played there and found the greens to better than I expected. Will definitely return and play again soon.
Sherman Hills Golf Club
Played On 11/18/2017What took me so long?
I've seen this course on Golfnow for some time. For whatever reason I never pulled the trigger and drove up I-75 to Sherman Hills...BIG MISTAKE! this golf course is a little gem and I found it to be in very fine condition with excellent greens. Much nicer than I expected. I can not wait to return to this course even though it is 41 miles from my house, It presents a player with the opportunity to shoot a great score (which I did 39-39), Not a lot of trees on the front nine or water. Back nine is more wooded but I played the same ball all day.
Cove Cay Golf Club
Played On 08/05/2017Cove Cay
I lived in the area many years ago and have driven by this course hundreds of times. Always wanted to play Cove Cay. Golfnow hot deal for $10.00 was sure to make it happen. Drove the hour to get there and found the staff very friendly at check-in. Course is right on Tampa Bay so some of the back nine has very nice views of the water. If you have any length to your game you can leave your driver at home. Most of the par fours are in the 360 yard range. Lots of dog leg holes which take some of the length out too. Lots of bunkers protect approach shots. Greens were in nice shape but this is not a high end course, weeds in the fairways etc. sand traps need attention (as most other courses as well). Cart paths need attention; the course must of been something back when it opened in 1972 but seems a bit tired. An enjoyable experience overall other than the poor young beginner I was paired with that probably shot a 130 (me 83). I'll play there again sometime but would not pay more than 25 bucks to ever do it.
Thanks for the detailed review. We've been working hard to get it into shape since purchasing the course and the cart paths are on our to-do list. Thanks again for your input and for playing Cove Cay Golf!
Turfking...Thanks for visiting and thank you for your feedback as we do appreciate it. So sorry to hear about your choice of day to play and the conditions you faced while you played. This David Harman design is tough enough as it is already. We hope you had a great experience overall and look forward to your next visit. Have a great week! -RK
