The greens are in horrible condition

I played as a single and got done in 2.5 hours! There was next to nobody on the course so I was able to fly through! The tee boxes need work and I would say are below average. The fairways are in pretty good shape but could use some maintenance and groundskeeping. The greens are not even grass for most of the holes. Just lots of sand! I honestly didn't bother lining up putts because there was no way to read the sand and the ball bounced and moved all over the place.

I was disappointed in how the course has been taken care of. I was here a little more than 6 months ago and the course was in fantastic condition, so I don't know what is going on.

The layout is really fun. Somewhat challenging due to tight fairways and the need to hit over hazards. 15, 16, and 17 are fun and unique holes to play on, so those holes are almost worth playing the course.

I don't think I would pay $20 to play here again until they improve the course.

Fun, cheap course in middle of Tallahassee. Great for beginners!

This course is in pretty good condition. The fairways are the best part of the course and are in great condition. The tee boxes were average but some of them were pretty worn out. The greens were not in good shape and I would say about 2/3s were somewhat sandy and impossible to guess a line. The ball would bounce irregular due to the sand on the green, but for the price I paid ($15), I was content.

The course could do with a ranger because pace of play was pretty slow. This is a city course so there are a lot of below average and beginner golfers so lots of hacking and slow play in front.

Also the holes were tightly packed together so there were many times you would be hitting in the same direction as another tee box for another hole so keep your eyes open and hope nobody hits you!

I would play again--some of the holes were very interesting and course overall isn't terrible difficult.

Challenging course with plenty of water and hazards

The course is well maintained. Some of the tee boxes could use some work, but overall it is in great condition. Water on almost every hole so bring extras! Swamp, trees, and hazards line many of the holes and the fairways can be tight. This course was pretty challenging for me. A few of the par 3's require shooting directly over water.

Lots of wildlife to be seen at this fun, water filled course!

First time playing this course. It is located inside an expensive gated community (houses either close to $1 million) but there houses are not hit-able. Course was reopened August 2014 and they have shown lots of improvements from what I have heard. The overall conditions are actually pretty good. The rough is thick and does need some improving/maintenance. Tee boxes were pretty decent and the fairways were great. Greens were awesome on about 16/18 holes with the other two just showing slight loss of grass.

There is water on just about every single hole. Nothing too terrible hard if you can keep your ball in the fairway as water did either line the left of right side of holes or there were a few holes that you did have to hit over water to get to the green. If you are an average or below average golfer, bring a few extra balls and make sure you have your ball retriever!

I saw probably about 20 turkeys, 15 deer, turtles, and alligators. The deer were even out as late as 11am and they just ran around all over the course including just sitting on the green while we chipped on it.

I would play here again and I recommend playing here if you haven't had a chance. Looks like the pro shop is also in process of being renovated.

You forget you are playing just a few miles from the Capital with this hidden gem in Tallahassee

This course is fantastic! Great north Florida wildlife and scenery just minutes away from downtown Tallahassee. One one hole you can actually see the Capital in the background. A few houses line some of the holes but none are close enough to get hit. There were lots of trees lining the holes but not thick enough to hinder you looking for lost balls.

Greens were just fantastic looking! Fairways were a little better than average and the tee boxes were great! There is a bathroom on the course that you will hit twice while playing. Some nice elevation changes on the holes....nothing terribly difficult other than hitting blind over some hills. A few par three's were a blast to play because of the elevation changes. Not too many water holes at all so don't have to worry!

Staff was very nice and polite. I saw the cart girl multiple times throughout the course and when we were on the 16th someone from the course came and gave us fresh baked cookies for free!

You will love this course if you have never tried it. Will definitely be coming back!

Seminole Course is always in fantastic condition! I always enjoy myself here

Course looks great for a course in the winter. Greens are pretty good looking and fairways look as good as they can being winter golf. Tee boxes had plenty of divots but are being kept in fairly good condition.

If you have never played here make sure you give it a shot! I love playing here!

Course looks much improved--greens and fairways are beautiful

The course is in great shape. The fairways and greens were in about as good of a shape as I have ever seen. The greens were perfect looking especially in the winter. Tee boxes were above average but not as good as the greens/fairways.

No ranger on the course which would be my only complaint as the pace was very slow and hackers were a problem in front of us. Looks like they are in the process of renovating the cart paths as some holes had noticeable newer concrete so glad to see they are continually improving.

The course itself is not that hard but there are some holes where water does come into play. It is pretty open as well so plenty of room to hit the fairways.

Cannot beat the price to play here---if you haven't tried here, you are missing out!

Decent course but would not pay full price to play here

This was my first time playing here. It was a fun course to play that runs through condos and a neighborhood so plenty of houses and things to hit if you stray off course :)

The course needs a ranger because I was playing as a single and got stuck behind a slow foursome who did not let me pass. Also this course is near retirement communities so plenty of older, slower golfers playing.

Greens and fairways are fantastic! Greens look like they had been watered recently so they played very slow. Tee boxes were average but could be improved. No hole maps so make sure to have a GPS on your phone for hole layout. There were bunkers on almost every hole and most greens were rather large so make sure to aim well! Rough was very thick so try to stay out of there!

Water was on about half the course so that plays as a major hazard. Lots of little kitties in the bushes so keep a lookout for cute cats and such.

No cart girl but there were bathrooms on the course. Pro shop was nice and had small snacks and drinks. Course employees were extremely nice and helpful so I have no complaints there!

I would probably choose to try a different course if I am in the area again. It's not that I didnt have a good time, but I would rather try something new as this course didnt really leave me with any lasting impression.

Fun, older course that has unique holes through a quite neighborhood

I used to play this course about 5-10 years ago but have moved so haven't had a chance to play it recently. I recommend this course if you have never played it. It is good for beginners due it not being as popular so you will not be rushed. This course would be great for advanced golfers as it does take pretty accurate shots off the tee.

This is a pretty fun course that runs through a neighborhood. It has very narrow fairways with trees and houses on either sides of most holes.

Fairways were average, greens were above average, tee boxes were really nice for the holes that have been redone. A few holes need improvement but for the most part looks great. The course is watering it frequently so the course is a little waterlogged which causes some small problems when the ball would be buried deep in the mud.

There are only 2 par 5's and both are on the front 9. There are 2-3 par 4's that are easy to try for the green in one shot. There is a fun, unique par 4 on the front 9 that you have to hit over water twice to reach the green. Bring some extra balls as there seems to be water on every other hole.

Will play this course again if I get a chance when I visit. Golf now rate was great for this!

Fun course with great playing conditions and great facility

Great course to play. The greens are in magnificent conditions! Fairways are about average--- the rough is pretty thick so try to stay out of there!

There are water hazards on most of the holes though none that are too tough. Plenty of bunkers and the they are almost all undulated greens.

Saw the cart girls more than 3 times and there were restrooms on the course along with water on some of the holes.

Not as scenic as some that I have played and many of the holes have houses lining the fairways but had a great time and would play again!

Great course close to Tallahassee. Quiet, beautiful golf course!

First time playing this course as I got a $10 hot deal for 8AM. Course was great! The course is set by itself for the most part so it was very quiet and had a very nice North Florida scenery. The tee boxes were about average, fairways were fantastic, and the greens were very good looking. There was some soggy areas throughout the course and there were just a few greens that were very wet but otherwise course conditions are great.

There are no bathrooms on the course other than the clubhouse. I did not see a cart girl but there was water on some of the holes. The Course Guide at the pro shop is worth asking for as it has hole by hole tips and maps.

This is about 30 mins from downtown Tallahassee so I wouldn't mind driving the extra distance to play here. Well worth the price and the course was fun.

Much improved from 6 months ago! Fun course!

I got a Hot Deal price of $10 so I feel like that's a great deal for 18 holes! I played this course in May and they made lots of improvements since then. The greens were absolutely terrible the last time I played and they showed the most improvement. I would say that 5-6 greens are still pretty sandy and in bad shape, but they are working to get them better. I can tell they are planting and working on getting new grass for the greens. The fairways were fantastic and the tee boxes were pretty good.

It hadn't rained in a few weeks but the course was wet in several areas. Some of the bunkers had water pool inside and others were pretty muddy. Some parts of the course was wet but it looked like they are working on their irrigation system.

I honesty don't know what people are complaining about this course for. Sure it is not up to the par of Southwood or the other Elite golf courses, but this is a really fun and overall pretty good course.

Played at 12PM and I literally didn't see another group playing the whole day.

If you are looking for tournament conditions, do not play here. If you are looking for a relaxing round of golf with nice natural Florida scenery and for a cheap price, play here!

One of Tallahassee's best golf courses!

This is a beautiful and well maintained course. The greens and fairways were fantastic. Tee boxes were pretty good though they had plenty of divots. They have 6 tee boxes to choose from so perfect for all skill levels.

This course does have elevation changes so some shots are played on uneven ground. The rough is also very thick so sometimes hard to find balls and hit out of.

There were just a few water holes but nothing that would make you loose too many balls. Plenty of bunkers but this is a great layout for a golf course and I look forward to playing here again!

I saw the cart girl twice while playing and there were multiple bathrooms and places to refill your water throughout.

One of Tallahassee's best golf courses!

This was the first time I played Southwood as I usually play Seminole. I got a hot deal on Golfnow for Southwood and have wanted to try this course out for quite some time. Cool and nice part of this course is that they have 5 tees to choose from when hitting.

It is a beautiful well kept up course. I would say this course is much harder than Seminole due to the elevation changes on the holes as well as the thicker rough. It is very open so you shouldn't lose any balls. There were not too many water holes so no need to really worry about that.

There has not been any rain in Tallahassee for almost 2 weeks but the course was soggy so not sure if they over-water or if the irrigation had problems, but the course was soggy in some places.

The course is lined with fantastic semi-mansions that are absolutely gorgeous! I played as a single and was stuck behind multiple threesomes and foursomes so that added time to my round.

The cart girl came twice during my play and there are bathrooms and water on the course throughout so that was nice.

I would 100% play this course again for the amount I paid ($30) however I think I enjoy Seminole course better.

Good value for the money but terrible sandy greens! Fairways were in great shape.

This is the first time I have played this course as I always play Seminole Golf Course. I would say its worth it to pay a little extra to play at Seminole versus here. The fairways are in pretty good shape but I can't use a bad enough word to describe the putting greens. Green is not the right word either. They were 95% sand. There was no way to read you putts and they jumped and hopped on every putt.

Overall minus the greens, the golf course is in pretty good shape. I have heard that it was terrible before so it looks like they have made improvements. I didn't see any bathrooms on the course other than the clubhouse but many holes meet around the clubhouse so wasn't a problem. I did not see a cart girl for snacks or drinks at all so not sure if they have one or just wasn't working on a Saturday.

They say 15,16,17 are the best holes in Tallahassee. I wouldn't say the best but I would say unique and fun to play for sure.

I would probably play again just to switch it up from the Seminole course I usually play at. I would say it is more challenging and not as open as Seminole and I did lose more golf balls here than I ever have at Seminole.

Pristine open course that isn't too hard but not too easy

Greens and fairways are fantastic. This is a pretty open course so no worrying about losing balls in the forest. Also only 2 or 3 water holes so no need to worry about going fishing!

Overall a fantastic course!
